Cap space is a non-issue for the Sabres. Olofsson is available but I'd want more than just a 3rd for a 25 goal scorer. I'd be looking for a 2nd or a 3rd and a defense prospect

...He'll likely get a mid round pick, maybe a 2nd if the Sabres retain (doubtful)

I would expect his value to be a third without retention and a second with retention...

A lot had to do with him both being passed by younger wingers... That pushed him to the line of misfit toys with Mittelstadt, Jost, Krebs before he was put between Gus and Okie, Hino, and whoever else drew into the line-up...His defensive game while never great seemed to get worse which personally I think was more a product of him pouting about being put on the 3rd line and 2nd PP unit. There were stretches where he seemed engaged and when he was he was playing very well even backchecking, but that would stop after a few games. A change of scenery and a more structured system would probably be good for him, he's obviously got a good shot but I think he's also more creative with the puck than most fans give him credit for.
Let's be candid here, he has an increadibly accurate shot with a quick release.
He ranked 25 among ALL NHL foward scoring 1.6 goals/60, and his 28 goals ranked 55th!
Wth a total of 96 top line forwards his goal production is first line equivalency.
His value will be determined by the other 31 GM's.
Jeannot (4 pts in 20 games with Tampa) returned an entire draft sans the last two picks, Greenway's two goals netted a second and the list goes on.
If Buffalo was to ONLY be offered a third, they should keep him,
his 48 goals represented 9% of Buffalo's goal production the last two years.
Nearly all goal scorers are streaky, but it appears he will find open space no matter who are his line mates and score goals in bunches.
