That makes absolutely zero sense for Ottawa. They trade a star goal scorer in his prime for what? Two players that *might* play in the NHL in like 5 years?

I don't think this will work with Ottawa. there are many problems with it imo. 1. we just made your team much better with this trade so the picks are going to be late in the first round so not as much value. 2. We now have a big hole to fill on our second line. 3. Were trying to get into the playoffs I don't think making a rival wildcard team much better for 2 late picks is going to help us pass you guys. This just makes Ottawa much worse imo and a rival better.

Send Rust to Ottawa instead with 1m retained + those 1st picks and they might accept. Otherwise I would recommend a Boeser. He has a nice ceiling and should be quite cheap to attain. Also Nucks ain't boosting any rival then. A 1st should do with Nucks retaining salary.

Ottawa easily gets a better offer than that. They’ll want a better main piece for sure. As somebody already said a few guys that might make the NHL in a few years for a prime scoring forward isn’t great. Rado will likely be looking for forward talent for Girard if they move him. I don’t see Buffalo taking Petry. Everybody else likely says yes unless I’m missing something. Those look bad for Pitt
