Carrier doesn't strike me as a second-round quality. But the pick is far enough away that I could be convinced, with some actual data and argument.

DET doesn't need NSH to eat cap. Fabbri straight up should work.

With the Detroit trade I don't see Detroit giving up a 2nd for Johansen he will be 31 before the start of the season.. Your reason for Detroit wanting him is solid but it's why Detroit signed Copp who has 4 seasons left on his contract.

Copp is really solid, but he doesn't strike me as a playoff tier 2C. You guys could use one more short term center. Perhaps a lower 2nd would get it done, but I think more would be needed for the Preds than just the injury prone Fabbri. RyJo can always move to the wing if things get crowded or work out better that way.

While EDM is probably better off moving all of Yamo or Foegele's cap hits, I'd probably make that trade. Nice balance!

Detroit has a ton of cap space but if Detroit but $8M for a player on his way downs a lot especially with that return.

5.5m with 5.825m coming back *

There's more to his game than just points, and I think this is a player that will benefit the team around him and see a bit of a bounce back. It's really a shallow price to pay for a 2C, but I believe you're more on the "ride it out" boat compared to some other fans that see a need for a temporary 2nd line center.

He isn't a playoff tier 2C but he isn't Detroit's long term 2C. Like I said his reasoning was solid, using Johansen as a place holder until Kasper is ready. Which is exactly what Detroit is doing with Copp.

No I'm just not interested in helping out Nashville and adding a player to Detroit who's washed up and overpaid. That's why you're on CFACGM trading him. But I believe I'm a "don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining" fan. Sell it to a Slappy. I'm not buying what you're selling.

He's alot better than his 28 points this year. I think him for Fabbri straight up is good for both teams. I wouldn't pay a second for him though.

How is he better? 28 points is what RyJo scored. I'm not making it up. It's a fact.

Top 5 face off in the league. Plays with an edge. Great possession numbers. Good locker room guy. Very sound defensively. Nashville has never really been a team that plays a system good for offensively gifted players either. I think he would make this team better and it would allow Copp to play 3C if Kasper is in the minors or on the wing to either mentor Kasper or play top 6.

If he's so great then why would Nashville be trading him? Sounds like a Selke favourite. Minus 13 last year. I probably made that up too.

I wouldn't say he's a top defensive guy but he's solid. He's a decent player that could fill a hole in the line up for two years. If this acquisition cost was just Fabbri it would probably be a good deal. I wouldn't pay much for him because of his cap hit and lack of production on the score board.

The main idea of trading for him is to acquire someone to fill the 2C roll for real cheap. He's not worth paying alot for but if the price is right then ok.

There's a lot to not like about investing a 2nd round pick into him that have nothing to do with his play on the ice. The tip of the ice berg is that he's a really awkward age at 26 and doesn't have much of a resume yet with only 144 games played total. Is he a top 4 guy or a depth paring guy? You just don't know for sure because he hasn't proven anything.

Then he's an RFA that needs a contract. If you give him a 1 yr show me what you can do deal then he becomes a UFA. If you give him term you're going to have to pay for UFA years for a guy that you don't know what you've got. It's a lot of risk that you paid a hefty price for a guy that might play less than 82 games for your franchise, ever.

In a league where Ethan Bear got traded for a 5th and guys like Mahura and Valimaki were waiver claims I have a real hard time seeing Carrier get a 2nd.

I like these trades minus I would substitute Fabbro out for either Carrier or Lauzon. Johannsen is going to be a tough sell to a lot of teams just because his numbers don't justify his pay. I think he would help out a team like Detroit but I don't expect a draft pick back plus players just probably players. Overall though, these our solid trades
