Toe-drag release Bedsy

Created by: J_w64
Team: 2023-24 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: May 10, 2023
Published: May 10, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Tried keeping it realistic with the moves and signings. It will be interesting to see what sort of help Chicago gives Bedard, I have a feeling it'll be a Sid level rookie campaign.

Leafs laugh that offer to sleep. At worse, it's going to be the Mrazek deal

"better" goalie is a stretch. Am I just making you aware of the cap situation next year??

no, it's not, Murray is a much better goalie than Mrazek is. And everyone is aware of the cap situation next year, that is why we see 400 of these murray+ a 1st trades a day

You're joking right...

Murray cost $684,900 to buy out this year... 2 mill (about if the Leafs were to retain 50% in total) the following year compared to Mrazek's (1,033,333 Y1, 803,333 Y2, 1,433,333 Y3 and 1,433,333 Y4) almost double of total salary used in buyout compared to Murray so no, I am not joking.

Murray also had about a .050 better save percentage than Mrazek and about a .5 better GAA than Mrazek

"much better goalie" ok Jared... Well sorry if this is news to you leafs fans but over half the league is going to be asking Arizona, Chicago, Anaheim to take on bad contracts. 2021 price won't be 2023 price!!

Like the Domi signing a lot. No way Leafs make that deal. Murray has more value than that. Hawks don't make the other two trades. Bailey takes a 2nd to move to the Hawks. And Hawks hang on to TRad. TRad going back to Isles costs a 1st plus. I doubt the Hawks would take Granlund for a single 2nd. Probably takes more. And Hawks are high on Guttman. They love his game. Guttman would be the 2C over Granlund even if Hawks did acquire Granny.

You mean 2022 draft price won't be the same price by multiple hundreds of rounds selection in 2023? On top of that, the Leafs can just buy Murray out or let him sit on LTIR

There was a 0.009 Save% difference this year and one of these goalies was on the 2022-23 Blackhawks... I don't want to hear it.

yeah, it's almost like Mrazek has been that bad. Murray simply being below average makes him much better. That's how it works J double U. And sorry for fellas like you, but everyone here said it would take an incredible amount to move Mrazek at 2 years last season and then it didnt happen. they also said it would take a 1st or Knies to move Ritchie, but that also didnt happen. It's almost like your desire to see the leafs get ripped off massivly blinds you to actual dumping prices
It will 100% be similar value to move Murray

I appreciate the feedback. I was unsure on Granlund because that contract isn't great but he's still a middle six nhl forward and it would give bedard at least a reliable vet to have. Am I the only one who's aware of how bad Matt Murray honks???

Hawks can probably get a second just by taking Bailey, no need for Raddysh to be included.

Same goes for the Granlund trade, no reason for Guttman to be in there. They also can get more if they’re taking him, they got a second and a fourth for Zaitsev.

Only time will tell my friend. I think that with the influx of teams looking to make the exact same moves it's going to cost a lot. This isn't just a "leafs" issue this is an "nhl" issue.

So you think Bedard will score 40 goals and have 100 points? If he gets half of that it will be a success. It's not often "the next Gretzky" lives up to the billing. Crosby or McDavid are the exception not the rule.

Thanks for the feedback, while I agree there's no reason for Guttman or TRad to be included from a Hawks perspective, both of the teams could use those pieces, hence the draft pick compensation.

goals saved above expected

Petr Mrazek 2021-22 save percentage: .888
Matt Murray 2022-23 save percentage: .903

Petr Mrazek 2021-22 GP:20
Matt Murray 2022-23 GP: 26

Petr Mrazek 2021-22 GAA: 3.34
Matt Murray 2022-23 GAA: 3.01

Petr Mrazek trade at 2022 draft: 2022 1st (25th Overall: Sam Rinzel) + Mrazek for 2022 second round pick (Fraser Minten)
The trade that you are offering: Matt Murray + 2023 1st (28th Overall) for 6th in 2024 + 2023 7th (195th overall)

Way off value wise

that'd be a thing if things had changed in some way, but they havent. there is roughly the same amount of teams that can take cap and the same amount that can take them. This has not changed

Oh, Murray stinks. He and Mrazek would be co-tank commanders. But the reality is it doesn't take anything close to a 1st to dump a 1 year $4.7m cap hit. If it's Murray and the Boston 1st, Leafs are getting back a late 2nd, early 3rd in return. From Hawks, mist likely Rangers '23 2nd (#56) or Hawks '23 3rd (#69).

My feeling is Hawks will be more aggressive than last season in free agency to support Bedard. Like I said, love the Domi idea. I'd like to see Hawks make a run at Bunting as well. Like his game and he has that edge to stick up for Bedard when necessary

amazing how my entire argument was that when he was healthy he had proven to be a half decent starter and then he was never fully healthy ever again and you never acknowledge that part of those lengthy arguments, or mention how much you said it would cost to dump him

So you expect Bedard to get 20 goals and 50 points? I've had too many stupid arguments with you Victor, take off your tinfoil hat!!! Sid had a 100 point rookie campaign with Colby Armstrong and senior citizen Mark Recchi as his linemates... Yes I think Bedard with Max Domi and Josh Bailey on his line he could get near a 100 point season.

Bunting or Reaves imo. I want locker room guys. I also wouldn’t mind overpaying for someone like Killorn. Veteran presence with Stanley Cup habits. He gets a bag and a lot less taxing season with the Hawks.

No, you were arguing he's a 1B when he never was; healthy or not and I was arguing he "looked" good in Carolina because of their defense at the time was arguably the best in the league. He is not good, a backup at best always has been and always was.
