Like everything other than the Mathews trade, might be a spot to go 7 to 5 and pick who you want, after top 4 picks go bedard/fantilli/carlsson/smith

I doubt the return for Hayes won't be as substantial as a first rounder. I think Philly will be getting Foudy and/or Bemstrom with a mid round pick. Jackets need to move wingers before moving high picks.

    That's why I added a 3rd from the Flyers.

What about the Matthews trade do you not like? The return for him or just Matthews in general?

Just the walk ability, and the 8x13.5 needed. Don’t like either option. Just about rather slow build it for a few years, few top 10 picks and go. But also understand the speed up and paying the premium

My thinking is that we aren't going to get a top tier 1C in the draft and I think next year we will be picking in the 10-15 range anyways.

While this draft is super top heavy, it is not deep. Florida's third rounder won't be worth anything; it's essentially an early fourth in disguise. Add your own third and it may be palatable as there may be second round talent there, but the Jackets are more interested in moving players than trading down in picks. They need to make room on the wings more than they need to make a third pick in the third round.

Travis is a 60pt guy. Laf is 21 and a 40pt guy. The Rangers would rather keep Laf and Goodrow at basically the same cap hit Travis would be. Laf probably gets 2.5 for 2 years.

I don't think Winnipeg is a good target for either Flyer as neither fill a need for the Jets. Plus Sanheim due to his contract isn't very appetizing at all.

I'd just wait for next year to take a RD. Next years class is way better for defense IMO, and atm look like multiple will go in the top 10. I much prefer Benson, Leonard, Dvorsky over Reinbacher for pick 7. If they were to pick Reinbacher I would want to trade back and take him, and try to grab an extra pick in the process.

Back to back years of taking a RD high wouldn't upset me either.

I agree. You created a trade that heavily favors Philly. You get the two best players and dump an awful contract of an LHD and worthless piece on a team that needs neither, so yes I agree with your assessment of your trade being Flyer biased.

This is the year to get a top C in the draft. Even at 7OA there are a lot of good options. I think Dvorsky would be great.

You think a 32 year old with an expiring contract and a 4th liner are better than Sanheim who had to drag Ristolainen or TDA around the ice the last 2 years? Ok...

Everyone wants Dvorsky and I want no part of him. He hasn't done anything against better competition! Here is a comparison for you...Carlsson will go top 3 or 4 and was a half ppg player in the SHL (Sweden's top league). Dvorsky didn't play in the SHL. Dvorsky was also not even a .5 ppg player in the SWE-1 (2nd tier). I am not risking a top 10 pick on that!

With Sanheim's upcoming extension coupled with his play last year and the Jets having zero need for another LHD, absolutely.

I could understand If the Jets needed Sanheim, or if his extension was actually good value for his play and didn't have trade protection, but as it stands, the Jets would have no interest in him.

The last thing the Jets need is a LHD. Especially one that is overpaid, underperforming and has trade protection.
