saw from Sheng yesterday that CBJ wants a center, so really either Smith or Carlsson. Really hope they want Smith because I'd love Carlsson

I would really like SJ to draft Benson if Benson, Fantilli, Carlsson is the top 3. Love his compete and well-roundedness. Do you know why he's dropped for a lot of people though? At the start of the year he was always around #5 and now I've seen some even have him out of the top 10.

They like to create mystery and uncertainty to make the draft more interesting. But Fantilli-Carlsson-Benson is guaronteed unless someone really takes a gamble on Michkov. I'd don't think Michkov gets past AZ. But if he does. He will slide outside the top 10. Where AZ takes him 12th. But I have a feeling Michkov is really being held hostage to stay in the KHL.

Smith can play C/RW and is a RHS. He was the main component of his line making both his wings superior. RHS solid size with a very high ceiling and still has untapped potential. Smith has more offensive upside than Carlsson. Though Carlsson has better size and defensive game I think smith is the better fit!
Imagine a top line in 3-4 years of Cole Eiserman (2nd OA 24 draft) Eklund and Smith!

I disagrree. Carlsson will be a far superior 200 ft ppg player. I think Leonard & Perreault beasting on the wings really gave Smith more room and time to be overly creative. His game will suffer at the next level as he wont have time and space like he has now, nor will his turnovers be tolerated. Smith is very much a project. Wheras Carlsson will be NHL ready and competitive very soon. My money would be on Carlsson 10 fold, furthermore, Benson is a more efficent more reliable version of what people think Smith is.

I disagree with you on this, Leonard and Perrault are thought of as highly as they are only because of their pairing with Smith, smith drove the play and they benefitted immensely. Carlsson may be a bigger better 200’ guy but offensively he isn’t on the same level.

Said one of the two is getting drafted #3 and the other #4. And whoever the sharks get is going to be a good to very good player.

You will be shocked when Smith falls. People don't understand how elite Leonard is as a PF now how good Perreault is at grinding and puck retrieval. Smith had more turnovers per 60 than any draft eligible player in this class. Plus his pass completion was the lowest. He will drop. His game is inflated and exacerbated by his line mates at PP time. Watch more film.

also one last thing, don't too shocked if Moore gets taken before Smith. Anyhow, love the Irbe icon. Peace.

I do not want Montreal to take Reinbacher at #5. In my opinion the ceilings for the other possible talent like Michkov/Smith/Benson (P. Kane/Zegras/Gaudreau) far exceeds Reinbacher's ceiling (Ryan McDonagh or Shea Theodore).
Plus next year is loaded with defensemen in the draft and Montreal will not likely be very good next year, so they should get another high pick, which they can use on picks for defence. Just my thoughts.

P. Kane/Zegras/Gaudreau I think these comparisons are very very exaggerated. Maybe style but if you have these expectations for ceiling you'll be very disappointed.

Those are comparisons that I have read on different websites from some "insiders" for what it is worth.

Irbe got me into Hockey back when the sharks were brand new! We will see CBJ are very high on Smith so I would not be surprised to see him gone before we draft. I’ve seen a lot of Smith footage and not just the highlight reel lol. I just thing he is special and is only going to get better, all 3 of those guys will be too 6 studs in 3-4 years

He should but he won't. Centers are too valuable

I think he will because he is in fact THAT much better.

You'd have to think Montreal trades back before reaching and taking Reinbacher at 5.
