Sick of the Lottery

Description
This might not have the Wings take a huge jump, but should get them in a position to compete for a WC spot.

Wings add the 1st line goal scorer they need with Larkin.

Sounds like Addison might be an odd man out in MN/need a change of scenery, same with Zadina.

Bring in Bjugstad and Clifton to be bottom of the lineup/young guy insurance with Edvinsson shoulder surgery, and nobody knowing if Kasper will be ready for full time NHL minutes.

Wings need a solid backup, I'd go with either Carolina goalie since they won't keep both, prefer Raanta though.

I’m not giving them 9th overall. I just don’t love the idea of Copp being the 2nd line center. This team as you constructed just misses the playoffs

- Addison is odd man out for a reason, he has WAY too much risk in his game at this stage. I'd take a flier on him for Zadina OR a 3rd, not both.

Agree with your title. Obviously, Nucks would be the perfect fit, but Red Wings and Habs would be great as well.
Also, hot take, think Yotes would be a good fit with Tourigny being such an underrated coach. He's really developed players like Keller and Schmaltz into great players.(Keller is a borderline elite player) Just imagine a Keller-Bedard-Schmaltz line.

Larkin contract has made this very difficult. If it’s not a superstar they ain’t making more than Larkin. Maybe Cat takes a bit of a discount being this is the hometown team but still this team does not make the playoffs.

Clifton gets double that in UFA. I'm sick of the draft lottery too. But Gary hates the Red Wings so there's nothing we can do about it.

If he wants 9 you don't do it, nobody gets over the number Larkin got. Addison is a heavy offensive D-man, you play him with Maataa for that reason. Look what he did with Hronek.

There's zero chance of Yzerman giving up the 9 OA pick for Alex DeBrincat. Swap out the 9th for the 17th. That's the best they're getting from us. Would love Cat but he's not imperative to us

Agreed on Copp, hopefully Kasper gets there in a year or 2. I would prefer it to be 17, just not sure you get a 30 goal scorer without giving up 9.

Yeah, ideally that is a player who you can scratch when Edvinsson is back healthy, whether it is Clifton or another short term option.

If i'm including the 9th it's for Kyle Connor who still has 3 years at $7,140,000 not DeBrincat who's smaller and asking for more money.

Well it's looking like Scheifele, PLD, Wheeler and Hellebuyck are more than likely gone. So Winnipeg is more than likely heading for a potential rebuild. So i'm pretty sure Connor just said that he won't play on a rebuilding Jets team.

“he reportedly wants 9M+” according to what sources lmao. his QO for a single year is 9M, that doesn’t mean it’s what he’s seeking for a long term deal. there’s been absolutely no reporting on that whatsoever

17OA maybe.
There were fifty 30-goal scorers in the league this season. A 30 goal scorer does not cost 9OA.
