not sure carlsson = nylander or that kuzy = girard, both the capitol players are quite a bit older

And in the case of Kuz cost quite a bit more against the cap.

Vlassic is penciled in as starting his season in the NHL for the Hawks, they won't be trading him for a cap dump and a 25 year old "prospect"

Please share why it was a bad season...really curious to hear this

Dude got blasted in the head with a puck and missed over half the season. When he was on the ice the Caps were good, when he wasn't they were awful.

I agree, Caps were better with him than without and I think people in the NHL know that, maybe not the people on CapFriendly.

I am ok with moving him for a player like Nylander though, he will be 34 halfway through next season. I do think Dumba is a downgrade from Carlson, but I believe Nylander is a dynamic addition to the forwards.

Take out:
Kuznetsov - 31
Carlson - 33
Mantha - 29

Bring In:
Dumba - 29
Nylander - 27
Girard - 25

To be honest, Frank doesn't pay to move Mantha for future considerations. Hawks already have their own version of Frank they are very high on - Cole Guttman.

Dumba is one of the most overrated players in the league -- does literally nothing but play a lot, strictly worse than Carlson. Girard is great but LD is not the position we need to address, better than Mantha, but those assets are better used on a forward. Nylander is an incredible player and certainly better than Kuznetsov, however they should be giving up futures for a player of his caliber not their second best roster player.

They can't solve one gigantic problem (top 6 winger) by creating another (no #1D)
