It doesn't make sense for Buffalo. We have everything in order with the attack and a few more prospects who are already ready to join the league. If we need forwards, then only players who are good at two-way play, defense, on PK. But these are more likely players for the bottom 6 or mid-six forward.

Bryson in first pair with Dahlin? He's probably #8 in our depth.

Just retain something on Olofsson and look for mid 2nd round pick in return.

Like the Gavrikov signing, I wouldn't sign Kane, there's definitely something wrong with his hip. And Bryson should never see the ice again, atleast as a Sabre

Signing Kane to a 1-year deal and then having him get surgery done (if he agrees) to it might not be a bad idea since they have the cap. He'll be on LTIR all season long but if they manage to make it to the playoffs and win a few rounds, maybe he could join in and help them.

Why, by the time he's healed you probably have a couple young players ready to step up. If I am gonna spend 6m on a forward I should have just went and got Timo

You're assuming he would be allowed to get the surgery he wants/needs...

Check the edit. With all the uncertainty with Timo, acquiring him was probably not worth it. Adams has said they want guys who want to be in Buffalo after the Eichel trade. So doubt he trades futures for a guy he wasn't certain about.

tears of joy. Can always rely on you to not miss an opportunity for this type of comment.

Yeah, was bold of me to assume that the Buffalo organization would come up with that idea, but to be fair, Eichel was their franchise C, so no wonder they were scared. I don't think they will be scared to lose 6 or 7M, who knows maybe Kane jerseys will sell out without him playing.

What uncertainty, you know you had him for 2yrs, his QO doesn't matter to Buffalo this year. Biggest reason he's not here is Buffalo wouldn't give up the Dman they wanted and we didn't have a viable option in our prospect pool.

That just shows that Buffalo wasn't going to trade for 2-years of Meier, since they aren't in their cup window. If Meier accepts the QO, he could simply walk to free agency the year after. If they had a guarantee that he was going to stick around, thry might have been more willing to consolidate on the trade package.

No, it just shows that Buffalo didn't have the pieces that SJ wanted. Just like Chychrun, you don't think Buffalo could have beat that offer that Arizona got. It's not always about what you have in your prospect pool, it's also about who you have and do those pieces match what they want.

You said Buffalo "wouldn't give up the Dman that they wanted" so they did have the pieces. Now maybe it was just about them thinking that Meier was worth that piece (even with an extension). Now if we go back to Kane, it's only going to cost them money and a roster spot, so that's why they might spend 6M on Kane even though they didn't on Timo (who costs assets as well).

Another thing to consider is that acquiring Kane could be good for the business aspect of things.

Yes, but your also not gonna weaken a already weak spot to make a deal, that's why I said viable D prospect too like a Faber or Morrow.
