This is enough to clown on you for
The amount of Marner to CBJ trades in the last week that include 2 or more of KJ, Jiricek, 3rd Ovr, or even Werenski is probably higher than all the CBJ ACGMs made in the past 2 months. Acting as though saying these forums have been filled with awful Marner deals is "clownable" is just willful ignorance.
A player can be both extremely good, elite, whatever and still have their trade value not reflect that. If Marner was getting 7, 8, maybe even 9 a year, there'd be much more interest, but it's just a huge ask to both find a team that can afford the 11 mil cap hit, has enough to send back that Toronto would take a deal, and is willing to accept the huge risk that it's probably just a 2 year rental.
Marner is simply never going to make sense for CBJ unless Jarmo is just making a desperate attempt to save his job while prospects mature. Not impossible he's motivated to do that, but even if that's the case there's so many better ways to achieve that goal without jeopardizing the teams long term future.
CBJ would be lucky to make playoffs this year with Marner and even next year may be 50/50 given the uncertainty of how prospects develop and the absurdity of the eastern conference playoff picture. A coin flip chance of making the playoffs for a few years isn't enough to entice a team to blow up one of the best prospect pools in the league like so many other ACGMs are suggesting with their Marner trades.
