“No one’s going to give a 1st for a rental top line centre who plays a power forward game that is proven to work in the playoffs”. Wow… that offer gets blown out of the water by the other 30 teams in the league (yes even teams that don’t necessarily want him or need him).

You do realize what Meier and horvat just went for as rentals right? A 1st will be only a part of a larger package for dubois, even as a rental.

Lol where is this coming from? Even actual Habs fans have more sense than you. Did you recently get mugged in Winnipeg or something?

Horvat extended with his new team. Meier still had 2 years as a RFA, NJ knew they could flip him if they can't extend him. Trouba is a better comparable.

Jets will get better then that, teams have paid more for less before.

This reminds me of Habs fans on here telling me Hudon and a 3rd would be the best the Jets would get for Laine.. 🤣

Yeah, cause no teams give up a first for a rental lol. Some Habs fans are absolutely delusional in the hopes they get what they want for peanuts.
As a Jets fan, I know we aren’t getting an absolute haul for Dubois regardless of where he goes, but it absolutely will be more than this garbage offered here
I held hopes that Jets/Habs could come to a fair deal that was beneficial to both teams, cause that’s how it is supposed to work and you guys have done a nice job rebuilding, but I’m actually starting to hope that he’s traded to and signs long term with Boston or Carolina so he can beat the piss out of you guys for the next 8 years.

I think it’ll be a little higher than Dvorak, anderson, and a 1st since that’s been offered and rejected in the past. MTL fans will hate it, but there’s a real possibility that dach and a 2nd or FLA 1st is the deal considering they’ve offered that in the past.

The islanders were not allowed to talk extension with horvat before hand. He was acquired as a rental. Meier has a 10M+ QO. He was being treated as a UFA by Sam Jose and were also not allowed to talk extension. Which is reportedly why the jets didn’t go hard after Meier.

I’ve been thinking Dach/2nd the whole time myself. Suzuki/PLD/Beck down the middle for the next decade is pretty good depth, plus whoever they get at 5OA and their T9 starts to look pretty good.
Dach helps Chevy save face and gives them a play now roster player. It makes too much sense though and will be hated by everyone...

There's 0 chance of that happening. Dach has been one of the few highlights of the season, showed he had chemistry with both Suzuki and Caufield as a RW, and that he could also be a nice complement to Suzuki as a 2C. Hughes took a gamble on him, and it paid off. With his contract, he's not trading him away for a player who's rumored to be interested in signing in MTL in a year. And I know he can also sign somwehere else, but that's okay. Hughes wants to add a Top-6 player...trading one to get one, while adding salary doesn't make sense.

Believe me, if you were a Habs fan, you wouldn't think this made sense.
