Hello Uh Is Indiana Jones There

Created by: IDKtbh
Team: 2023-24 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: May 25, 2023
Published: May 26, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I may have gotten a little carried away…

*I understand this is a pie in the sky type scenario.

I know a lot of Detroit fans are eager to make big trades this offseason but, I think we should take advantage of the opportunity to load up the prospect cupboard and make our “big” moves next offseason or as early as this upcoming seasons trade deadline.

The two deadline trades would likely require better prospects going to the respective trade partners, likely 1-2 players taken from the 2023 draft however I think two unprotected 1st rounders, a 2nd & a 3rd going the other way in each deal represents solid framework for the packages. The prospects aren’t bad but only B & C level guys and a bit of a quantity over quality type group in terms of players going the other way in these trades which I understand won’t likely cut it.

2024-25 Projected Cap Space $32m
Extensions:
Moritz Seider 8x$8.5m
Lucas Raymond 8x$7m
Jonatan Berggren 6x$4.5m
Michael Rasmussen 6x$4m

Remaining Cap Room $8m

*Taxi Squad are draft picks in order of selection.

Mainly goalie tandem was not targeted and our assets that could be used to target one are gone.
Not a big fan of the line ups either. Not a lot of similarities on that 2nd line.

JVR as #1LW is questionable

Eh, the lines are negligible. I put Keller, Kasper & Kyrou together cuz it rolled off the tongue nicely.. 😂

I’m personally a believer in Ned - I think wherever he ends up this year he’ll have a resurgent year and people will wonder how he was so unsuccessful in Detroit but, we just sucked, I don’t think he did. There are obviously other goalie options in free agency and I’m optimistic about Cossa making the jump to Detroit in 24-25.

I originally had Killorn signed but I 86’d that because I preferred a big bodied winger on a 1 year deal as opposed to giving Alex the term he’d likely require to sign. I suppose swapping him and Rasmussen would work but, I just wanted to add some size & physicality to that line for Larkin & Raymond.

Now that you mention it; that line is horrible.

Yeah, there's no solid framework there and Kyrou isn't available anyway.

Two 1sts, a 2nd & a 3rd is solid framework for any player. I could understand not liking the idea of someone suggesting a trade for a player that isn’t likely to be traded but, don’t be ridiculous. If you’re gonna be though, at least include a disclaimer like I did.

I know I said this on your last AGM with this premise, but if either Moore or Dvoraky are there at 9, I’d do this. If not, then I’d rather keep the picks

First of all Kyrou is a building block for our new core. He's not being traded unless it's for an upgrade or a top 4 young LHD. Don't have much interest in the 2024 1st from Boston or the 2026 first from Detroit. Don't have any interest in the C tier prospects because we already have C tier prospects of our own. Your package is lacking a lot in quality. Start with your 2023 pick and add from there. IF you don't want to do that then that's fine, blues will easily keep kyrou. Let me ask you this, would you trade Raymond/Seider for a package like this?

This is a trade that would take place next year so the picks start in 2024.

To answer your question; I would consider trading Raymond and Dylan Larkin as well in a similar deal. As I mentioned as well, the trade represents framework of a deal and admittedly need to include better prospects along with the picks.

Right, Everybody has a price. I think I’ve acknowledged pretty straightforwardly that I don’t think either of the overall compensation in the two big trades here actually gets either deal done.

It would take a rather large disconnect for the Blues to trade Kyrou.

I don’t think the Blues would trade Kyrou/Thomas if they’re burning it to the ground. They’re both pretty young and it’s not fathomable to trade off all of the vets too.

There would have to be a severe difference In philosophy between the management group and the player. If that were the case I don’t see them approaching a full futures package as a return. I think there would almost have to be a top end prospect, a 1st and some sort of a roster player.

The other alternative is probably something similar to the Seguin trade.

Either way, we aren’t going to like the return. For as bad as the Seguin trade looks now though. There were some decent pieces coming back. Eriksson was a really good productive scorer at the time of the trade. Reilly Smith was a pretty good looking prospect, Joe Morrow was the 23rd pick in his D+2 (could be +1 may have read it wrong).

But nonetheless a package for Kyrou would almost certainly be a pain to try and put together and either way nobody is going to like the result.

So imo if blues were to trade Kyrou
Part of it would go to that team taking Krug, but also there would have to be and elite prospect coming back

In my opinion, if the wings & Blues were to come together on a Jordan Kyrou trade and Lucas Raymond was included in the deal, there wouldn’t be much else attached to a package that included on Detroits end.

I would go as far as Raymond & a future 1st, perhaps with some protections attached to the pick but, I think Raymond + a 2nd round pick for Kyrou would be a spot I’d be comfortable with.

You live in a fantasy land - if Det trader Seider - the Blues would have to add significantly to Kyrou…
