Davidsons Quest

Created by: wosdady
Team: 2023-24 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: May 27, 2023
Published: May 28, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
FA signings:
Davidson presents AA with a $5,000,000 x 3 or $4,500,000 x 4. AA takes the later based on his statements about seeking long term stability. Comps: Wennberg, Saad, Marchment

The Hawks have to reach the cap floor, and Domi is the main beneficiary. Why not overpay the familiar face. He'll be a capable "bodyguard" for Bedard in the meantime. Comps: Trochek, Palat, W. Karlsson

Norm MacIver brings Hayden back from Seattle to help with forward depth on the right side. He brings toughness, fits the current mould, and had a good year in the minors. Gives Richardson another guy he can use to fight. He starts in the minors.

Trades:
Garland fits Davidson's mould. Jim Rutherford should be institutionalized. They'll swap picks while taking away Garland's cap hit from the capsizing Canucks. Garland's remaining years fit in with the hawks timeline. It's a deep draft so the Canucks will use this to their advantage and recoup some draft capital with the late 3rd. OEL does not waive his NMC to Chicago otherwise he would be apart of this instead of the next trade...

The one thing Davidson learned from Stan is that family matters. Sharks will need to lose future salary to sign players/prospects. Welcome Uncle Vlasic, who will be scratched by next year and promptly bought out before year 3. #capfloor. This is where I get delusional. The sharks can't get it together by 2025 and the hawks get their 1st overall pick in 2026, selecting Bedard's cousin, phenom Gavin McKenna. The legacy they can create should be able to rival and surpass that of Kane and Toews.

This is Davidson's Quest.

M.E.V doesnt waive his NMC to go to Chicago and SJ doesnt trade a future first to do it.

Definitely not going to happen like that. Practically signing Rutherford's resignation with that move. Besides he already gave away a 2md with Dickinson. Now Allvin has the keys as Rutherford is too old to drive.

Gonna have to add one of your 2023 2nds for the Canucks to consider. Even then they’d probably want Myers going the other way

AA hasn’t proven long term. He’ll get 2 years at most I don’t see who gives him long term unless he proves it more. Trades would work In Chicagos favour but not SJ and not MEV as he won’t waive his NMC. Not to mention Domi wanting to win I don’t think he will want to be here until we start getting good. He wants to win now not lose for 4 years than leave to go lose somewhere else.

So the 3rd covers the cost for Garland, but now what are you paying to move up in the draft? It’s a deep draft. Why would Vancouver downgrade pick?

This never happens. 1 because a rebuilding team doesn’t move 1st to shed salary! And no team wants 3 years of vlasic at 7 mil. And cause MEV blocks the deal. Chicago is much better off without the deal anyways.

Canucks decline. We aren't going to pay a 7th to dump Garland, and we certainly aren't going to use pick 11 to dump him in any scenario.

On top of the other valid points that have been raised as to why that trade with San Jose would never happen in a million years, of all teams who know better than to not protect a 1st round pick.....I mean, come on!

SJS is not doing that. They are in just as much of a rebuild as CHI is.
