Yeah the flyers do not want to take an overpaid Joseph. He is 26 so older than what the flyers want in return and he has never even scored 20 points in a year. And he makes 3mil? No thank you. Greig or Boucher instead of Joseph or no deal for me

Cap in and out is pretty equal.

Theyre getting the 16th overall

NOPE

Calgary is adding 1.2 million in cap while adding another roster spot to fill, so atleast 1.975 million in cap if dube is replaced by a league minimum guy, more likely 2.3 million if it's Coronado or zary.

We had this debate about who was better and I've been far too nice to you about being right.

Honestly I'd rather have Tanev!

Is Chabot a #1D worth $8M x 5? I mean I'd want him to be great defensively for that, and I don't think he is. Okay is he amazing offensively? Looks like Andersson on that end of the ice, but he's paid $3.5M more. So what am I missing here in terms of value?

hes great and dictates the pace of the game and carries play. Would be a perfect fit with Weegar. Plus hes signed for the best ages from 26-31

Not a bad offer for Hart considering the position of the Flames pick imo.

This gives the flyers a great pick and likely a better chance at getting Celebrini/Eiserman next year

Perry is either going to sign with a cup contender or retire.

Ottawa's defence is a lot worse without Chabot and I'm astounded that you don't realize that.

Your offer for Hart gets outbid by at least 25 other teams.

wild how u dont see the need to move an 8 mill dollar contract and get better depth like i just did. I just replaced Chabot with Tanev, Hart and Dube. Offence is deeper, D is good, goalies are good

If he's so great why do you want to move him? I agree that he helps generate more offense, but at a cost defensively. Isn't that why he's minus over plus player?

I just don't see the fit with the Flames, and I think he's paid too much for what he brings. Also, Andersson was already a great fit with Weegar.

You don't move out an 8 million dollar elite franchise defenceman just to get better depth, a rental and a mid-round 1st. Full stop.

And your offer for Hart gets beat by at least half the league.

I'm sorry but this AGM is beyond saving.

Because everybody deserves a second chance.

You're just another poor soul that sells himself short just to be liked.

And Lapierre + #8 overall is not exactly "scraps".

Big "no thanks" from CGY - can't afford that cap.
Personally, I prefer Tanev.

Maybe Dube/1st for Debrincat, though?

I like the Hart trade but would like it if it had a 2nd instead of Joesph more or Joesph and a 3rd. It’s definitely fair value tho if not close to it

Tanev would be the right partner for Chabot but he's getting old, has a lot of mileage on his body (injuries) and doesn't have term

Change management and coaching before trading Chabot. Get him his Methot (Zub is better suited as a 2nd pairing RHD)

Quoting: GirouxCrew

I wouldn't say that Joseph is overpaid at 2.95 AAV. He's an elite PKer, one of the best skaters in the league and has a 0.45 PPG in Ottawa (37 pts per 82 games) but I can understand the frustration with him as he leaves you wanting more. I would say he has 3rd round pick value for a team looking for a decent 3rd liner and who has cap space.

I don't know how much people expect to get for Hart but Calgary's 1st is 16th OA, which is pretty valuable based on the strength of this draft.

Thomson is worth a 2nd so it is very close to what Ottawa paid for Alex DeBrincat

Is there anybody who wants to argue that a goalie with pedestrian numbers is worth almost as much as a 25 y/o 2 times 40 goals scorer?

7th in 2022 vs 16th in 2023
2nd vs Thomson (pretty good offensive skillset, good numbers in the AHL)
3rd vs Joseph (elite PKer, decent 3rd liner)

I wouldn't mind giving up Boucher instead of Joseph, I think he has the same value at most (3rd). Greig on the other hand... I wouldn't trade him for anything less than a package for Konecny. I wouldn't trade him for anything less than a top-10 pick. Completely different value. Anyone who followed him closely in the WHL, AHL, WJC and NHL, it's easy to see that he'll be a special player

If Chabot is not here, somebody else will get exposed, probably Chychrun. The only D-man who is bulletproof for that is Jake Sanderson. He's Slavin 2.0

The problem is not Chabot, it's the GM and coaching staff who have no idea what "2-way hockey" means

But you're giving DeBrincat 8.0 here... Keeping Chabot and waiving DeBrincat would be better than this.

Move DeBrincat and Joseph for Nick Paul and Connor Brown types, like it should have been

Too bad we have a clown has a GM who has no idea how to build a proper roster and a cool guys coach who has no idea how to instill efficient 2-way hockey systems

Trading Chabot would be a huge mistake (ala Zibanejad) and if Ottawa's GM does that, it will be for the other team's benefit. They will know how to support him adequately and in the right hockey systems. Then he will shine **** crazy.

He has been raised in a loser regime and has been over-compensating for years because management and coaching is not NHL level. I'm actually surprised he hasn't asked for a trade yet. Kinda reminds me of Spezza who eventually did as he was the whipping boy
