Laughton for 3 years at 1.5m cap hit would be very interesting to me. I would accept this offer from the Leafs side of things. No retention I would decline though.

I was basing the value off of something like the Coleman trade. Gritty 200 ft third liner who can play center and wing for a late first and some other smaller assets

Definitely! Coleman was much younger, but still, this is very reasonable.

It's like what the Leafs did with getting McCabe. They paid a 1st and change but got McCabe for 3 years at 2m a year.

I would be interested for sure.

Avs trade is fine, we just don’t need a defenseman.

Fair could remove Seeler then just assumed any playoff team would take defense depth for insurance an to boost the value a little

We’ll just take like a 4th instead of him. I should correct myself by saying the Avs don’t need a LEFT-handed defenseman, but if we were to add someone like Seeler it would be around the deadline. Otherwise the trade is alright, I like the 50% retention too, we need as much cap space as possible to revitalize our depth.

Saw somewhere Carolina isn't moving Nikishin no matter what, that was before their loss though so maybe things have changed. Either way still good value but might have to change Nikishin to Heimosalmi or something

Who’s a comparable prospect in your mind? Would Hivronen be too much?

Abruzzese or Hirvonen would be fine for sure. They are all long shot prospects at making the NHL.

Nikishin is completely untouchable. No reason for the Canes to even consider moving him.

Hirvonen, Ovichnnikov, Abruzzese or someone like Tverberg are all equals in their projections to the NHL when comparing to SDA

Getting Seeler in that trade would be great. It's a nice current and future planning move. Good cheap depth now as 7/8 and good going forward for a bottom pair D.

I guess I might be a little short sighted right now. Good depth will be needed when Toews or Girard inevitably have to go.

If Ottawa were to match with a package of a 1st and then like Jarnventie then that’s a deal

This is very well done. Very close to even on just about all trades. CAR might get hung up on Nikishin, but I still think there’s other prospects/pick combos that could work. Morrow is probably off limits by that logic. If neither those prospects or kotchekov are available then it would have to be drury. If it is drury, then I’d be asking to bump the 2024 3rd to a 2024 2nd or something of that nature.

Either way, well done!

He would only be moved for certain cases. TK would not be one of those cases.

Good trade for both team. Avs need a big RHD with 775k salary but i prefer Attard or Ginning.

Thank you. I was thinking that maybe because of Carolina’s failure during the playoffs they would be a little more desperate to acquire top 6 help but I think you are right. I would love for a Nikishin/Morrow but one of Drury or Heimosalmi an a 2nd and maybe something else small could work
