In addition, they won't be attaching a 1st to Lafreniere. He's a 1st OV pick and only 21 still and showing improvement.

New York doesn't have the cap for Debrincat. Hence why there is a chance Laf becomes available this off season.

Panarin would have to go the other way just to make the cap work for the rangers

And Laffy 3rd line on his off hand is a weird place to put him

- Sogaard needs to continue developing in the AHL, let's not ruin him

- Bertuzzi won't sign in Canada and we need to utilize the cap space differently anyway, another good 2-way forward and a goalie

- This is too much for DeBrincat

Agreed, ADB is worth 1 very good piece plus other pieces but not 2 very good pieces

Lafreniere + Goodrow + 2nd for DeBrincat? If he'd sign around 7.8 for like 7 years with the Rangers?

Rangers really can't afford him even at that, and I doubt he would sign that as well.

I think his extension won't be over 8.0, that's the max he's worth IMO

What else could be done to help out the Rangers cap situation and make this work? I don't see many other possibilities

Lafreniere + Trouba for DeBrincat?

Yeah, but doubt they move their captain if anyone even wanted him. The other is Panarin but with a NMC and a 11.6M cap hit, I wouldn't expect a move, let alone one that frees up a ton of cap.

Yeah even for the Sens it doesn't work much, Trouba and DeBrincat will have similar AAVs... Lafreniere is not going to have an ELC AAV too... Joseph would have to go somewhere else

Panarin... well, DeBrincat + Joseph for Panarin + Lafreniere

but heavily unrealistic, and not super interesting for the Rangers. Doesn't even work for the Sens
