If this is the deal I’ll buy Hayes’ plane ticket for him to fly out there

Why would SJ use a super valuable retention slot on a really good value contract? That costs a 1st especially since you slot him in your top six. Pretty easy no.

The more i see hayes trades the less i like them, he's never really been a producer, and if we have an injury he doesn't really drive a line that much. That would just be a 3 year anchor for us if it doesn't pan out.
I like barabanov though, i think he would be a good piece added to third line who can move up seamlessly when injuries happen.
Don't see the point of the chicago trade though might as well just move out first for barabanov and get something else back from sanjose as well

What would we end up with if we traded a first for Barabonov? In addition to Barabonov, a third this year and a second in a couple years? Let me know. Also I think he’d be playing in the Top 6 since he is very likely to break the 50 point threshold this year and would be a good replacement for Landeskog production-wise, especially at that $2.5 million cap hit.

i honestly have no idea what his value would be, if you think he is a top 6 forward and him having such a low cap hit it might almost cost a first to get him
