Description
I'm almost positive Bedard will be more than ready to handle top of the lineup duties next season. But, I wouldn't be surprised to see him sheltered in a 3rd line role to start the season, while he acclimates to playing in the NHL.

Your value is probably close, but I doubt Vancouver does that deal.

Vancouver is way better off buying OEL out

I wouldn't say "way better off". If the goal is to create cap space, bring in more talent, get back in the playoffs next season, and be able to resign their free agents over the next few offseasons, this is a win. If they want to take a more patient approach, then yeah, they would be much better off buying him out. Which the patient approach is what I would do if I were them, but I'm not.

Interesting idea. I like it from the Hawks perspective. I'm guessing Canuck reaction will be less favorable.

Yeah. It's not necessarily "realistic" but it is the most realistic way CHI could get their hands on the 11th overall, IMO. VAN isn't going to trade that pick to move Myers, Granlund, or Boeser.

Maybe add the Rangers '23 2nd to the deal going to Vancouver? Hawks are getting either a '24 or '25 1st in this deal guaranteed.

lol. I meant Garland. There have been a lot of Granlund dump proposals lately too. I'm on a computer though, so I can't blame auto-correct. Must be my brain finally breaking.

Yeah. I thought about it. But when you consider all the salary OEL is owed, I really can't see much compensation going back to VAN. I was reluctant to even add Katchouk and Mitchell. At the same time, if we are getting more high picks we aren't going to "need" all those 2nds.

Value is there IMO. I wonder if threatening a buyout to OEL would make him waive since he will lose alot of money(isnt just 2/3s?).

That’s probably what it costs to dump OEL, but with how lackluster our prospect pool is I think the Canucks would be better off keeping the picks

Canucks decline. Value isn’t the problem, we just can’t afford to give up those picks with the current state of our prospect pool.
