Description
I think this could easily be a playoff team.

Tarasenko- Needed goal scorer who Detroit can afford to overpay for a couple of years. Increase my proposed AAV if needed.

Durzi- Young RD who could be a nice 2nd pair guy for the future. 2nd and a prospect seems to be the going rate.

Petry- The only Petry deal that makes sense if a Chiarot swap. Trade bad contract for bad contract, but the RD is needed. Add a low prospect or a late pick to make it happen.

DeBrincat-*sigh* I think he’ll be cheaper than what the Sens paid for him but for the sake of it, Sens get a middle 6 guy in Fabbri, a 1st, and either a 3rd and 4th OR a 2nd. Wings get a needed scorer. If Sens fans want more, Wongs target Konecny for less.

No thanks on the PIT and OTT deals.

Petry is a 12½ million cap dump and we're not touching him unless he comes with a 1st round pick.

DeBrincat is not worth his salary and term and that makes him too expensive. We don't need him that bad, we'd be better off getting Meier or Bratt.

I don’t disagree with Petry, but I see him as a RD version of Chiarot on a shorter deal.

As far as Cat goes, i have hesitations but the kid can score. I wouldn’t pay what Ottawa paid for him, but I’d take him and stick him on a line with Ras who can keep the flies off of him.

Pens decline. Funny how Petry is viewed as a cap dump because of his contract but Chiarot isn't...

Kings don't trade an NHL RHD for no one to fill their roster. Wings or no team is going to pay that amount in a trade for DeBrincat. Wait till UFA next season and see. Like the Tarasenko signing, and see didn't have to give up anything for him.

Chiarot is 3 years younger, makes 1.5m per less and hasn't had the worrisome injury history piling up over the last couple years. All these factors matter.

With all that said, I keep Chiarot over Petry all day.

Problem is, that creates a hole on the right side. And the pens don’t really need a LHD. And Mastrosimone doesn’t have any value to offset the 13+ million dump in Chiarot over the 12.5 million dump in Petry because Madtrosimone isn’t signing with Detroit and is going to be a UFA anyway. We could just sign him for free.

They play different games and Chiarot's style is needed more. Rather just play him on his off-hand with Maatta for a year or two, than take on Petry and this is coming from someone who values defensemen being on their strong side far more than most.

I’m fine with that. This is just about the only way I’d want Petry (Unless Pittsburgh pays us to take him).

McIsaac would have to clear waivers after camp. Thus only a 2nd for Durzi and not Detroit"s. Would expect Detroit's.

I literally said that this trade was bad contract for bad contract in the post… TWICE. Also added a prospect to offset the extra year of Chiarot.
Reading… it’s fun

Then make it Sebrango or Viro instead of McIssac
