Could you elaborate on these reports that the Jackets are looking for a top 6 winger? They've currently got Gaudreau, Laine, Marchenko, and Johnson for their top 6 wings so I'd be surprised if there are any reports like that.

Texier is also not going to be traded right now. He's just finally returning after the Jackets gave him a year and a half to grieve the death of multiple close family members. It would be pretty bad optics to trade a player just after that unless he were to request a trade. At the moment though he has said nothing but how excited he is to get back to time and reconnect with his teammates.

For some reason, I recall that Colombus wants to add another forward. I figured Olofsson would add some experience and scoring depth if Chinakhov or Marchenko, for some reason, does not make the team next year. Also, I did not know about the Texier thing.

There's definitely talk of them wanting another center. I don't think there's anyone that's doubting Marchenko making the lineup next year though. Chinkahov maybe could be questionable, but he was playing at a pretty solid pace before he took a high ankle sprain last year.

A top 6 winger might be an option if Laine and/or KJ are going to play center, but I dunno if they'd want to make that commitment before seeing how things go in camp and pre-season.

Sorry, not to be a dick but why in the world would Marchenko not make the team after setting the team's rookie goal scoring record and playing a lot of time on the top line.
Chinakov makes more sense to consider that, but I believe his deal is 1 way so he can't go to the A.

If you were really dead set on wanting swayman just offsheet him for 6.4 pay a future 1st and 3rd.

Keep the lottery pick and pay less.

There's also the strong liklihood that Babcock wouldn't embrace Olofsson as a target, given how the reports of his influence in the two trades for defensemen that match with his preferences.

Chinny can still go to the AHL, it's just that he gets his full salary no matter where he plays. He's still waiver exempt for next year and 68 more games so it wouldn't be a surprise to see him down there if he isn't playing well.

Ah okay, I was under the impression he had to pass waivers now. Guess this is only year 3 though, feels like longer since he was drafted in 2020 I think.
