I'm not sure Addison is the type of defender Detroit is looking for.

He scores almost exclusively on the PP (his 5-on-5 scoring is worse than every defender that played for Detroit this season) and we already have two good PP QBs in Walman and Seider.

He doesn't play PK at all, he doesn't hit or block shots, and he has twice the number of giveaways as he has takeaways.

We just traded away a similar type of player and I doubt yzerman is looking to replace him with a carbon copy.

Wideman was bad last year, he was not playing like a NHLer .. But he is a good vet for our young core

Agreed completely.

I'd be willing to take a flier on him, but the trade value and new contract would have to be bargains, or it's not worth the risk in my opinion. If he can be had for a 3rd and sign sub 2.5m per, for sure, but I suspect someone will give a 2nd for him.

ridiculous to suggest that keeping wideman because hes "a good vet for our young core" is a better choice than actually playing our young core. who does he even play over if we keep him? definitely not Ghule Xhekaj or Harris. depending on how you view advanced stats Kova was one of our best guys & Barron took huge steps all season long. as much as i do love widesy there just isnt a spot for him in the lineup anymore. (IMO savard and eddy also dont have a roster spot). i think that 8-21, 54-26, 72-52 is the way to go this year barring any changes.

Never said he would play lol Wideman is the 8th dman, but just being around the team (in the plane, at the hotel, at the rink) is good for the kids. If we don't trade Edmundson, I think he ends up in Laval
Hard disagree with Savard, he's our best RHD, he can play against other teams top line even if it's not ideal

Guhle-Savard
Matheson-Barron
Xhekaj-Harris
Kovy
Wideman

Trade Edmundson or leave him on IR because of his back problems

Hawks decline. They'll be looking for better picks than a 4th to take on unwanted contracts.

It's not a bad offer to take on only $2M contract, but it is a defenseman. Hawks have too many D right now. So they have to be getting a high pick to eat another contract on D.
