Description
- Trading Schiefele is tough because the Jets would want a 1/2C in return but if the other team is trading for Scheifele then they want to compete for a cup by next season so Byfield was one of a very few that I felt met this criteria
- Any trade the Jets make that involve Helley is going to be an L. However, adding Marner and Samsonov for Helley and Ehlers is as realistic as it could get. The Leafs are still getting a very good top 6 winger that makes significantly less than Marner and are upgrading the goalie position at the same time. I know a lot will disagree but it's hard to make trades as the Jets by still keeping them competitive
- Rumors came out the other day that the Canes might shop Pesce if his extension ask is too high and they are a team that would take a 1 year risk on Dubois. Drury also requested a trade earlier in the season and can get good middle 6 time with the Jets given injuries
- Dillon is mainly a cap dump but could be a good replacement if the Panthers lose Gudas and they could afford the cap hit for a singular season
- the biggest issue with this team is center depth but not a lot of teams are willing to part with their top centers if they want to compete right now. it is also important to keep in mind that it is hard for Winnipeg to attract free agents so a guy like o'reilly doesn't make a lot of sense in my opinion

Appreciate the explanation but just no way - imo - leafs would ever consider this. Ehlers is a good player but Mitch is much, much better. Plus Mitch is very likely to re sign in 2 years so no need to move him; not sure if the jets can say the same about Ehlers? And honestly speaking I’d prefer Sammy (at his age and likely term & cap hit) over hellybuck; he’d be a one year rental.

No players want to play for Jets, move the Jets to Quebec so Dubois will sign long term and all the other too. The big wreck is saved and everyone is happy again.

And Ehlers would consider resigning with the Jets while Marner definitely wouldn't, this really doesn't make sense for either side.

Marner has more value than that. 2 good players but not enough to get the Leafs to bite.

Los Angeles can't afford Scheifele unless you retain 50% and take Alex Iafallo instead of Byfield because, after all, your genius colleague @Cheddamonkey37 doesn't want anything to do with him. And you get to keep Brad Lambert that way. Win-win!

LA has no cap for that deal and LA shouldn't be moving Byfield. LA passes quickly.
