Why is 1 year left under contract Pesce worth more than RFA Hronek was at the trade deadline or RFA Nils Lundkvist and 5 years left under contract John Marino were the previous off season?

For one, he is better than all those players. For two, I'm sure he would be allowed to speak about extensions first before being traded in order to maximize the trade return. Carolina being a contender would be far better off just keeping him and letting him leave in unrestricted free agency than taking most of these pathetic offers.
