Wouldn't trade Bouchard if I was EDM personally. Also, where exactly are they drawing that ~$6M cap deficit that's left after the trade?

SJ-EDM trade won't get far because of 1) cap and 2) the ask (Bouchard).

Getting Campbell would be a smart pick-up if SJ were trying the following year (bad move for the Oilers). The Oilers will still need major retention on Karlsson.

Something like Karlsson 8-8.5m for a 1st+Holloway+Yamamoto+Campbell would be more realistic, but the Oilers probably don't part with Holloway.

Would be very risky paying Bouchard 7.5M, his production is only that of a 6-6.5M, and who knows how much production is affected if he leaves the Oilers.

San Jose will have to retain Karlssons contract with 2-3 millions. Could be worth going through another team to make them cut a million or two on top of that. Fair value if Edmonton gets EK65 for 8 a year rather than 11.5. Cost for 3rd party retention; a 2nd rounder each maybe

Karlsson to EDM is dead. The Ekholm acquisition closed the door on that possibility.

everyone is talking about the karlsson trade but no the fact a 60pt player with proven success in the playoffs only gets a 1st and a cap dump and an average prospect
