This is just my opinion but with the new developments in Russia this morning, I think you just keep the pick and take whoever is there at 5th as Michkov may just want out of Russia now.

I hear you. This trade is if the Habs are dead set on taking one of Leonard, Reinbacher, or Dvorsky which would be poor value at #5. Better gain some value out of it by trading down.

I don't see this as a player trade, but as a contract trade. I heard that Vancouver were looking to use OEL's freed cap to improve at every position. This gives the Canucks an extra $3M to do that, and possibly buy Armia out the following offseason for peanuts.

I'd be over the moon if they took Michkov at 5 but still have my doubts. All this pandering to moving up when Michkov looks to dwarf the production of Fantilli/Carlsson. Fantili hockey IQ is a big question mark while with Michkov there is no question. Carlsson's high end talent is a big question, none with Michkov's hands and creativity.

Again, all that was before Moscow's invasion. That just might flip the thinking of both Michkov and Habs brass

Well see. Very interesting. I'm still a big Reinbacher booster BUT not if Michkov is an option. Taking Leonard or Smith would be disappointing. Both those guys upside is easily attainable in trades. If they really want to have a fit like Leonard on the top line, bring back Toffoli! Whos already proven he fits there. You want a Smith, go get TT from Carolina.

Yeah, I like Reinbacher as well but again not if Michkov is on the board and willing to walk from his KHL contract

Canucks pass. Better to keep the expiring deal rather than have essentially 3.4M of dead cap next season when we have to sign Pettersson and Hronek and when it’s a better FA class
