Why sign this guy for 3 year when Prosvetov is a much better option .
This guy was positive in the Saves Above Expected last year while Prosvetov was not. He's expected to play 30 games next season, so this is a good deal. Hell, he had slightly better GAA and S% than Vejmelka, so maybe they are thinking he could be a 1b instead of a backup.

Prosvetov had amazing stats before getting hung out to dry his last few starts. Ingram is a fringe backup.
Playing on such a talent scarce team makes his performance hard to judge.... but Im far from sold on him even being a good back up, so this seems like an expensive and unneeded gamble. Maybe with one of their early picks they draft a true future #1 goalie- because I dont think they have one in their system yet.

Fringe backup do not have a positive Saves Above Expected stat. At worse, you could say he did better than expected against weaker than average opponents. (Backups rarely play the toughest teams.)
On the other hand, goalies are a weird breed and a few bad starts can kill their confidence. We've seen a goalie get smacked around in the playoffs and then have a bad start to the next season. I'm not saying this will happen with Prosvetov, but it is a possibility.
