I'm a little surprised this hasn't been brought up more often. Might just be recency bias but I think Nylander is a little bit better but may cost more too. Might just depend if both Debrincat and Nylander actually want to play in ott and toronto.

And Vegas isn't trading a 65 point player making $2.75 mill. That's one of the biggest bargain contracts in the league

You're kidding right? Vegas 100% says no but Toronto says no to Ottawa and both teams accept the CHI deal

Ottawa would have to add in a 1st/A tier prospect to make this deal worth it to Toronto

I'll admit with the recent Hall trade...the Hawks are depleted at RD prospects and Zaitsev isn't of interest to play for the NHL club. That one is the closest, BUT they're also not in the business of trading away picks. Using Hall as an example again...they'll send over a player that they don't view as an NHLer, but I really don't think they'll trade away picks to help solve another team's cap issues.

Debrincat > Nylander so no...OTT wouldn't. Nylander in 8 years...176 goals 429 points....all while playing on a team with Matthews, Marner, Tavares. Debrincat in 6 years 187 goals and 373 points...all while playing with Kaner on a team that only made the playoffs once...in the bubble...for TV ratings.

That's hilarious... Debrincat played with Kane and Teows whereas Nylander would play with a young Matthews or and old Tavares... Nylander has more points, plays more defence (somehow) and is a proven playoff preformers whereas DeBrincat is undersized, a ton of his points come from PP1/playing on line 1. Also, they originally put DeBrincat with tkachuk and Stuzle, so strength in teamates is irrelevant.

You couldn't be more clear on the fact that you hate TO more than you like the Hawks. Debrincat is not better than Nylander. He's a good player but benefitted greatly by playing with Kane when he still scored at an elite pace. Without him, he's a good player but not nearly as productive.

Toews? Look, he's my all-time favorite player...so I'm not going to trash him, but that doesn't mean we can't be honest about his play. The last 4 years were not the same Toews. He missed an entire season and even when he came back he was a shell of himself.

Nylander plays ZERO defense. Literally impossible to play more of something you don't do. Nylander isn't physical at all and quits on plays when it matters the most...making business decisions over trying to fight Manson like Debrincat does. AND...Nylander's just going to pull the same hold out BS that he did with Dubas.

Are you trying to tell me that Kaner at ages 30-33 is better than Matthews/Marner/Tavares??? Who did Nylander get to play with? The Hawks had 1 line night in and night out that could score. Every team put the shutdown line against them and they still produce. I'm not a big fan of Nylander. No denying that. He's a hold out, business 1st, effort 2nd player.

Teows and Kane from 2016-2022 >Matthews and Hyman/Jarnkrok from 2016-2023

DeBrincat is worse than Nylander... I know people that are Sens fans and they even say he's a liability, one of them even argued that if he doesn't score a goal, he might as well not have been on the ice... DeBrincat has no physical aspects and is an easy target from the other team to rally themselves (see the countless times DeBrincat gets blown up)... Nylander at least tries to do the right thing sometimes... Nylander preforms in the playoffs... and is a 40 goal scorer (which was the only thing DeBrincat had on Nylander which has now been neutralized). Doesn't help when one has 87 points and the other has 66 points last year

You obviously are one of those guys that say Leafs players suck until they prove you wrong, only for you to say that they are leaving soon anyways...

Matthews at age 19-23 or Tavares at age 32? Nylander doesn't play with Marner

What does 2016 have anything to do with Debrincat? He was in Erie! 2017-2018 He didn't even play with Kaner.

Debrincat has no physical aspects...REALLY??? Nylander has 125 hits in his CAREER. Debrincat 109 hits...LAST YEAR

I would take Debrincat over Nylander because Debrincat at least plays a 2-way game. Nylander quits on plays and doesn't understand what it takes to win in the playoffs. That's NOT a TOR dig. That's a Nylander dig.

I'm a big Matthews/Marner fan. Marner's huge on the PK which is very underrated. I cheered for TOR this past season in the playoffs. Dubas was/is a great GM imo. I'm perfectly fine with them winning a Cup. I don't care for Nylander's style of play. I don't think he's a team 1st player. I don't think he'll make the necessary sacrifices in the playoffs to win a cup. I think he makes money decisions both on and off the ice and that's his 1st priority vs winning which might not even be his 2nd priority.

Yes a 30-33 year old Kane is definitely better at offence than the same aged Tavares. Thanks for blowing up your own argument
