Re-thinking after the riley Smith Move

Description
Unsure about alot of guys trade values because the market is so weird right now.

If we're not gonna buyout Grunland (I would much rather buy him out) I think reuniting him with Zucker and giving him someone who can shoot like Nylander is the best option.

Zucker may take a team friendly since he said he wants to stay in Pittsburgh

Calgary laughs and hangs up. No idea where you got the idea it's a buyers market with how weak this FA pool is either

Its deffenltly close have you been watching any of the other transactions.... it might not be there yet, but its not as far off as people are saying, one year of Haffin is not worth that much more than 2 of Riley Smith and their are more top pairing LHD available than top 6 wingers.

Definitely not enough for Hanifin. Maybe add POJ and scrap the ARI trade and that's a good start - probably need to add one more asset of decent value and then I think you have a shot.

Free Agency hasn't even started yet. As soon as things start drying up it will flip like a light switch. Calgary is in no rush to move Hanifin. If you don't want to pay what he's worth you can go sign Orlov for 8M or whatever he wants

It's not enough for Hanifin, gotta go up a bit. They don't really need to shed cap either IF they are indeed going to look to move a number of players.

Calgary deal might be close to being far if Pitt was the only team who wanted him, unfortunately, someone will overpay for Hanifin.

The Toffoli trade provides enough cap space to fill out the roster. Calgary isn't trading from a weak position where they need to move someone.

Which is fair, if we couldn't work put a deal Id probably go after Graves, but you would not laugh and hang up, it was a good starting point based off all the other trades that have been made. You maybe right that you need more that is why I said it in the details, but if you thinks that your getting anything significant for him from anyone your wrong, unless you wait till the deadline and see if the market changes

I'm willing to take that bet. Your offer is simply trash, you want Hanifin, starts with your 1st and a good prospect. If and when Graves does sign, and there is a good chance it wont be with Pittsburgh due to demand, then call back with a real offer

No, We'd just bring in a RHD who is defensively sound since it looks like we'll actually gonna be able to dump Petry and then use both POJ and Smith. Your not getting a first for Haniffan unless the Market Drastically, and I am DRASTICALLY changes, 1 year of Hanfian is not worth that much more than 2 of Reilly Smith. If you want to hold on to him and go with cheaper players to fill out your roster than that would probably be the smart move, but there are too many teams looking to move good players.

You are trolling if you are comparing the Smith trade. Vegas clearly needed every penny of the cap space to sign Barbashev, Calgary does not need the cap space from Hanifin. Good luck finding a 1st pair defenseman under 5M elsewhere though

we have 1..... Petterson.... and we don't need one for under 5 Mill we are not in that bad of a cap situation if the rumors are tru that teams are gonna let us pay them to take Petry.

Also, teams do not need to be cap compliant for another 2 months, Vegas could have waited if they thought the market was gonna go up, there are so many other teams looking to move guys, we'll find someone to fill out our D core, if its not Hanifan so be it, it might be more to acquire him than what I offered, but I am certainly closer than you are.

Honestly, if I were you guys, I would hold onto him, market might go up before the deadline, and I would honestly rather go cheap filling your other wholes than lose a D man this good at current trade Value, but until the Market changes, you are not gonna get a first for him.

Conroy has already said as much
dNO34bg.png

As for Smith, yes you are allowed to exceed the cap by 10% during the summer but that would only be a maximum of 91.85M. With Lehner's contract that would have put them at 90.7M, leaving them with almost zero cap space to work with and RFA's still to sign. Vegas simply moved Smith early to get that flexibility.

You also keep mentioning this "pay to take Petry" thing but I haven't heard this rumor anywhere and even if it is true, he will cost a lot to move, at least a 2nd.
