I voted bad, cause this isn't pretty, but Killorn just had a good season, he's a vet presence. Cap is no big deal cause Silfver and Ricco are most likely gone after 23/24 (or earlier) and just like that we have another 10 mil in cap space.
But the contract is still pretty bad lmao. It's just we can afford it.

Guy is about to be 34 and snagged a 4 year 6.25M.

Ducks better not be burning their space too quick. Still got Zegras + Terry that need extensions.

Nah, they'll be fine.

$28,798,333 in cap space left.

Let's assume:
-$2,500,000 for Groulx and Dostal
-$8,000,000 (x8) for Zegras
-$7,000,000 for Terry
-$3,500,000 for Drysdale (bridge deal)

Leaves them with $7,798,333 in cap space. It would be a little less if Helleson, Carlsson, Zellweger (or other prospects) play in the NHL next year because their cap hits aren't included in the $28,798,333 I believe. But that doesn't change much.

There would even be enough space to give Drysdale a big contract (which I wouldn't do though as of now).

Henrique and Silfverberg contracts are up after 23/24, meaning +$11M in cap space but no major players to be re-signed next summer (as of now). The Fowler and Gudas contracts expire after 25/26 which is exactly when Mintyukov, Zellweger, Hinds and (possibly) Drysdale will get new contracts (Mintyukov's, Hinds' and Zellweger's ELCs will expire, Drysdale's bridge deal might expire that summer (if he gets a bridge deal that is)).

He got his Cup rings now he get the BAG. Good for him and I'm sure this AAV lessens the sting of losing him for Tampa fans.

Knew it was coming for 2 years now. Reading the tea leaves Pally then Killer was inevitable. I hope Killorn plays his best Hockey 80 games next year.

Alex Killorns Skating has gotten so much better since he turned 29/30 much better skater than 2013-2017 Killorn. Which is IMO a big reason his point totals have increased since. Some guys figure out how to train better in their late 20's early 30's Killorn seems to be that guy.

Well, that certainly addresses the problem of weakness at RW.

I'm really happy with this signing, too.

He mostly plays the left honestly

And at this point a wayyyy better hockey player than perry dude has put his best 4 years up ages 29-33. His skating is much better than it was say 2013-2017. Short of breaking his leg blocking slapper from Shea Webber he really doesn't miss time.

This signing really isn’t as bad as some people think. Killorn is a legit top six winger who could definitely play with McTavish and Vatrano. The term is definitely going to age poorly but eh Ducks have plenty of cap space so why not use it?

So before the season start, i'll go ahead with my prediction :

This will be the worst contract of the 2023 free agency

You may be right. I think there's a bigger risk with some of the long-term deals the Islanders have signed, but considering all factors such as the price tag, the player's age (so far he's actually gotten better with age, but a lot can change in 4 years), and the uncertainty around what kind of a fit he'll be going from the top of the league to the bottom, there's a lot that could go wrong here.
