Unlike San Jose, Winnipeg is getting the younger player on a waivers-exempt ELC who was drafted higher and who played in an NHL game before.

With that, the Jets win the trade.

I like Gawanke, glad he'll get a chance in SJ since he was blocked out in Winnipeg

Grier quickly created a logjam on the LD, trading Artemi whos stagnated slightly for a RD with AHL progression is a smart value move. The Cuda and SJS need more RD and they got one.

I like this for Winnipeg, Gawanke's closer to NHL ready but Kniazev has the higher ceiling imo

Gawanke signed in the DEL this summer so this is probably just a roster spot opening. Maybe opening a spot for a D man in the AHL

Tbh it's a fair deal, but a small on eso it won't really matter.

Gawanke is the better player, but Jets win for getting a player with upside for a guy who was never going to play in our organization again. Gawanke is signed in Germany but apparently can still play for the Sharks organization. If he does he's good enough to get NHL games this season.

While Gawankes shot is NHL caliber his skating especially backwards is not Always wondered why the just did not make him a winger as he would probably be a decent 3rd line RW in the NHL. Maybe the Sharks will notice.
