Canes pass. Not giving Jarvis up in a nylander deal.

Murray will probably cost the 2026 1st to move. I would figure it would be a couple of seconds otherwise but the Leafs don't have them.

That's less likely. Necas had 20 points less, has half the cap hit, and is an RFA not a UFA. Oh, and he's 2 years younger.

Let's break this down.

Brodie is a cap dump. Carolina have 3 LHD in Slavin, Skjei and Orlov who are all just straight up better. Brodie can play RD, but then why not just keep Pesce? Nylander is a nice piece, but Jarvis was untouchable for Meier, who is arguably better and had team control. Robertson is forever hurt. His value is low. The 1st is nice, but this looks like a big step backward for a team that was a Svechnikov injury away from the Stanley Cup Finals

How about just cancelling the trade in total and signing nylander yourself?

Eh not all that interested honestly. Necas is cheaper and cost controlled for awhile and is coming off a breakout season.

I don’t think this would be what Leafs want but Skjei a first and a high prospect is probably the best fit from a canes perspective. Or pesce and a first. I’d understand why leafs don’t want to do that though.

That’s actually not a bad offer, Nylander, Brodie Robertson for Pesce skeji a first and a high end prospect?

You run into the same issue. Pesce and Skjei were a top 3 analytical D pair last year, you want to gut the Canes forward core for a downgrade in Brodie, a guy that may develop but seems to have more injuries than NHL experience, and a great player whose out of contract at the end of the year? It's very not what Carolina do.

What’s your offer then ( not saying they should make the trade but if they were to what is a return you’d be happy with sending a package of Pesce ++ to the leafs)

Truthfully, I wouldn't include Pesce. If a defenseman goes, I'd make it Skjei. Pesce's a core piece and it doesn't make sense to move him if you can avoid it and there's a reason they're still trying desperately to extend him. If I HAD to offer, I'd say Skjei, 1st, Suzuki. It's going to get rejected, but I think at that point, Carolina walk away.

I’m only offering Nylander for Pesce because on contract issues on both sides, Toronto needs an rd DfD and Carolina needs a scorer thought it made sense

You're about 4 years late for the Pesce for Nylander deals. It doesn't work for Carolina because the Canes don't have a replacement. Toronto at least have Brodie. Carolina's strength right now is on the left. That's why Skjei would be the one to go, you still have Orlov and Slavin, Pesce Burns and DeAngelo complete the right hand side.

Your post your world, but if all Nylander wanted was $8.8x8 you would have already signed him. This is at the heart of the Nylander issue…the team trading for him has to sign him.

He’s asking for $10m +

Oh no, I think you misunderstood. One or the other. If it’s Skjei add a piece. And just for nylander, canes don’t really have an interest in the rest.
