So in your mind, Karlsson is worth 2 1sts, 2 2nds, parayko and morrow and Dean?

Also it's not baby sharks when you only have 3 ELC players

Parayko has negative value and is going to cost Dean at the very least to dump his contract. Included in the price of EK65 is the salary retention of $2.5M which is probably at least a second.

So is Karlsson worth 2 firsts, a second, and Morrow? Maybe that is a little high but the picks belong to Carolina so they are effectively two 30OA picks and one 60OA pick and when you look at it that way... is that enough for a 100pt Dman?

You want the Blues to trade a first (likely top 15), a high end prospect and their best dman for Pesce? The gap isn’t anywhere close to that between those two

Carolina doesn't have the cap as your trade is presented to go through with that as it stands as of this moment. More money has to be moved and the retention has to be larger whether thats with SJ or a third team.

With all these assets SJ is getting, are they paying another team to make Karlsson a 50% retained player?

Yeah I checked to make it work but didn't realize CapFriendly didn't have Tarasenko yet.

They are paying a first for Pesce and Dean to dump the albatross which is Parayko's contract.

Yeah nah. It’s funny to me how everyone keeps trying to trade for Parayko to “help” the Blues. However, there aren’t many Blues fans trying to get rid of him. Parayko has no partner and terrible usage, the Blues will not pay to move him

Everyone probably keeps trying to "help" the Blues because its been one of the league's worst kept secret that Armstrong is shopping everyone on your D core older than 26 to free up cap flexibility. But lets change it to Faulk if that will make you happy, makes no difference to me really.

We ain’t making that deal. Why would the Blues trade 2 cost controlled assets for a 28 yo pending UFA

Canes are more than likely out on EK with the move for Tarasenko. That being said, it’s quite an overpayment for EK, who likely will never have another season like the one he just had. Just to facilitate an EK trade, the cap hit EK has would have to be dropped to about 8mil. Now to get that kind of value for EK, his cap hit would need to be quite a bit lower. Canes would be better off keeping Pesce and the picks, as well as keeping Morrow to be the future after Burns.

If you wanna move a dman start with Krug or Leddy. However, none of them are waiving to go to SJ because you all are way far out on this rebuild

A cap anchor, maybe. If this past season has shown anything it's that he can't handle getting top pairing minutes/usage. Parayko is massively overrated by blues fans. Dudes an overpaid 2RHD

OK then the blues will keep him. They are not trading assets for a slight upgrade at best. Even with Pesce our defense still sucks and it doesn't make the playoffs. Put Parayko on the 2nd pair and he would play so much better. Instead the blues have to put him on the top pair with some of the hardest minutes in the NHL while having a subpar partner in Leddy. Plus the blues have to massively shelter the 2nd pair because of Krug so all the defensive responsibilities fall onto Parayko shoulders.

Slight upgrade? Pesce is like 3x the DFD Parayko is lol. Blues will be inclined to keep him, I agree, but let's not get carried away.

I try to watch as much as I can. But, the metrics don't lie. He can't and really hasn't been able to handle big roles. But hey, he plays for your team and "big guy good", so sure.

I disagree with this take but ok. Pesce plays with better players and doesn't have to shoulder everything because he has Skejei and Slavin plus a very good defensive forward core compared to the blues who have a bad defense and a forward core who doesn't play defense. Also compare Pesce usage to Parayko, Parayko is in the 92nd percentile while Pesce is in the 37th percentile. Usage is basically minutes, quality of competition, and quality of teammates. Pesce gets the easier minutes, with better teammates, and worse competition. Parayko does slightly worse than average on defense with very hard minutes while Pesce does very well with a lot easier minutes

Both Parayko and Pesce play over 20 minutes a night. They both play similar QoC, but Pesce has better teammates. My argument comes from Parayko never being more than a 2HD. Even in a lesser role in prior years, he's never been THAT good, aside from one outlier season where he was incredible in the 2RHD spot. They aren't far off in how they've been used in prior years, Pesce has just looked much better and been able to handle his load, can't say the same for Parayko who's been massively overrated for years.
