Arizona had Timmins, needed defensemen, evaluated him, then sent him to Toronto for an AHL grinder. Why do you think they would give up a third to try it again?

They have too many picks and need serviceable nhl players(also Timmons is young)

They did not like something they saw. They literally gave him away when they needed defensemen. Whatever it was, they weren't interested.

How long til the dump him on Arizona ends? Kind of like the mikey will eat anything? Arizona doing some interesting things, I hope there draft hits well for them and get them a new barn.

Hawks decline. The window is open again. Just buy Murray out and move on.

I wouldn’t quite say the window is open, but definitely nearing a bubble, then playoffs, then contenders, or do you see faster? Central going to be a war

Ha. Sorry. I meant the 2nd buyout window for Murray. With Samsonov filing for arbitration today, Leafs have a 2nd opportunity to buy out Murray.

Never. Everyone thinks they can send a 5th round pick to dump their high salary, high cap dumps. Arizona has been paid pretty well for every cap dump so far. Not sure why they'd suddenly start paying for them now.

Timmins looked okay to me. Needed ice time. For whatever reason they decided to turn the page. One would think Toronto would want a youngish RHD at low cap hit, but for some reason he seems to be the odd man out among the fans/management there.
He's simply not that good. I do think he's still got a chance of succeeding somewhere. Maybe the lightbulb goes off for him, but I'm pretty sure it won't be in Arizona, and I doubt he returns a third, if anything. I'm not entirely convinced he'd be claimed on waivers.

Can you explain Arizona draft? I was so wrong on predicting there picks, I like what they are doing, snowbird hoping that they are back in the mix in the central asap, with a cheaper ticket than winnipeg

They liked those guys more than the CSB list. I still wish they had traded down (Washington seemed an ideal match) if those were the targets, but they didn't want to risk it, I guess. Both guys have sky-high ceilings. Mostly just a surprise to see the names go early. They are apparently good friends; hopefully that eases the transition and helps them both. Huge guys who can skate are an archetype I can get behind. Hopefully it works out. Who knows. If you look at CSB rankings from five or six years ago, they are all over the place. Armstrong has a strong drafting record, so I'm willing to give them rope.

Hopefully they can figure out the arena situation. I'm very happy with how well they are stocked with picks, and they are spending money this off-season. Still need experience on the blue line to improve in the standings, imo, but headed the right direction.

-Agreeing with the Yotes fan saying Arizona passes. 25 decent games doesn't flip Timmins' value from "traded for an AHL goon" to "3rd round value". I think he's more valuable to Toronto as young cheap depth, so not sure why the Leafs would just move him out for a future.

-Chicago passes. I don't think Jarnkrok is a cap dump necessarily, but I think Chicago would treat him like one - I don't think a guy who'll be 32 on opening night and has 3x$2.1M is an asset they'd target. There's just not enough here for them to absorb both that deal & Murray's $4.6875M. Murray alone should cost a 2nd based on other dumps this summer; Robertson is made of glass and has minimal value right now, and a 3rd & 4th is not equal to a 2nd.

-Such an easy pass for the Flames. Right off the bat, there's no cap room there - Calgary currently has $1.475M in cap space, with Lindholm on the last year of a $4.85M deal and Nylander on a $6.9M deal. Even without any retention this deal would put Calgary over the cap by about $600K. I also think you can make the case that Lindholm is just as valuable as Nylander - he plays center and has 3 top-10 Selke finishes, and scored at a 0.9 PPG the past 2 seasons; Nylander scored at a 1.02 PPG pace in the same time frame. I don't see why Calgary would have to retain *and* add picks in to make this work.

Ya quietly without fan fare, kind of getting that big body tough to play against through out the lineup. Kind of a 19 blues mixed with tb of the last few years. Hopefully the kids come quick, will be interesting when they start trading picks to move up or add guys. Kind of like this squad going forward, especially with recent cap crunch around the league and also the value of picks seems to be going up also. Could be a rather interesting team very soon, could be an interesting blockbuster with Philly if they see a bargain in sanheim and or hart to add. Picks galore shouldn’t be wasted though.
