I was thinking more like Pluto. The farther the better. When I was in grade school, Pluto was considered a planet, and I would like to reinstate it to that status for this purpose.

He won't play with certain players. Maybe a bench and request a move can actually help bread to come down to earth.

    Wow this is bad https://www.capfriendly.com/browse/active

he makes points on pp, good for him. He is also one of the best paid players in the NHL. And he can't play anything but pp.
Look at points produced and salary and see what people a head of him makes. And he is on the wrong scale on this list, cost per point.

There isn't. But the Swede and I, and some others agree to disagree. Check out AG_Sweden's "The solution to all our troubles" thread for more commentary.

Panarin has lead the Rangers in even-strength assists and points every season he has been on the team (even the year Putin was after him). Hardly just a power-play merchant.

I get that he was a disappointment in the playoffs (he certainly wasn't the only one), and he makes too much per year, but calling him dead weight is kind of ridiculous. For better or worse he will remain a Ranger.

Who cares how he gets his points???? Lmao he’s probably the reason why their powerplay has been top 5 in the past years

He’s literally top 5 in points among ALL players in the past 5 years lol

There’s a case you can argue about half the rangers lineup not being good…. How about Mika? Only scored goals on powerplays….how about Kreider? Only scores tips or deflections and super streaky

Past 5 years don’t help us today and in the future. What is done is of no value at this point if he can’t turn it up when the playoffs come.

About 33% retained, but I’d honestly give up a 1st thinking of the Coleman/ Goodrow deals a couple years ago.

2 years in a row of disappearing starts to form a pattern. By your logic we may as well try again for 3 years. We won’t win a cup with him on this roster. Not entirely his fault, but he’s a big part of the problem.

Wow 16 points in 20 games last year. Man that’s BRUTAL. He should be scoring 30 in every post-season

I guess the devils should trade Bratt or Meier or Hirschier too since they didn’t show up in the playoffs as well

Points alone don’t equal success, but effort certainly does and his has been lacking the past two playoff runs.

Dude the whole team sucked against the devils in the first round lol why is Panarin the scapegoat? Where’s the accountability for every other player not named Igor?

This year almost everyone was bad. But this year is the 2nd year for Panarin being bad and looking disinterested. I’d rather Copp, Vatrano, Strome and Motte who work their tails off than Panarin, especially if he’s gonna put up such a lackluster effort.

Panarin is legitimately still one of the top-40 forwards in the league, an excellent play driver, a top-20 point producer, and still sneaky good on defense. He's only going to be 33 when his contract is done. And you're giving him away to anyone he'll waive for because he had 7 bad games? Even in those games he was the 5th-best forward to play 90+ minutes on the team in on-ice xGF%, a positive in actual GF% (61.5%) in all situations. 5v5 wasn't good but he was much stronger in the regular season.

He fell into your laps. Sure he's slightly overpaid because you got him as a UFA in his prime, but this is some of the most asinine, self-righteous, unappreciative, hubris-riddled bull**** I've seen on here. It's straight up arrogant. A very select few Rangers fans need to get their heads out of their ***.

Yea because Panarin surely lazily got 90+ points by not trying

Copp only had 14 points in the playoffs, Vatrano 13 and Strome had 9 points lol. And now I wonder how those 3 are doing on their new teams

Regular season overachieving still doesn’t help once your in the playoffs though. And combine those 3 you have an entire line for the price of Panarin.

Then what’s the excuse the year before when he looked like he wanted to be anywhere else than playing against Tampa. What he’s done in the regular season previously is worthless to the future, one that is significantly hampered by his bloated contract and lack of effort come playoff time. I’m sorry I’m not blinded by regular season points that don’t mean a damn thing come playoff time. I’d rather build an entire line of guys whose play style works during the playoffs.

How do you even know they make the playoffs without Panarin lol? What offensive player is gonna carry the team if Panarin is gone?
