If that offer could net Karlsson he’d already be a Penguin.

You have clearly taken leave of your senses.

You expect us to retain 25% on Kalrsson, take two years of cap dump in Granlund, AND give up Terry for a couple of nothing special LHD prospects and a second?

You need to hit the cap floor. Troy Terry is going to run the first chance he gets to go contend.
Pickering and POJ were both first-round selections. They might not be blue-chip stars, but POJ is solid defensively and Pickering has some notable offensive upside.

As far as I'm concerned, it's a better return considering where Anaheim is than what WPG got for PLD or what OTT got for DeBrincat. Could the 2nd turn into a 1st if the Pens win the cup? Sure, why not.

What you aren't considering is that neither Pittsburgh nor Carolina have the cap space to make it happen at this moment. Anaheim's trade makes that happen. Even if Carolina trades Pesce, that only opens $4.xm of cap space, leaving CAR with between 6-7m.

What can SJS reasonably ask for a 33-year-old offensive defenseman who doesn't defend, especially when only two parties are interested and San Jose is reluctant to eat a notable portion of his salary? It's not like we're getting a 24-year-old EK65, glorious on both offense and defense and in his prime. EK65's window coincides with PIT's.

All you’ve done is state conclusions at which you’ve only just arrived but have been painfully obvious to everyone else for quite some time, and then post two horrendously unrealistic deals. You should’ve just kept this one to yourself.

We're signing Terry long term, he has never said anything other than he wants to be a Duck.

We hit the cap floor just by signing Terry and Zegras, so let's put that lazy argument to bed, bother to glance at the RFAs we still have to sign maybe?

Anaheim has the strongest pipeline of LHD in the league, those two don't stack up to what we already have and only further add to the logjam at LHD.

In conclusion, **** off.

I mean it's speculation from everyone, but he has a 15 team NTC and when he got traded to pittsburgh he stressed that it was important to play as close to Michigan as possible for family reasons. Sharks are probably one of the furthest teams away from Michigan and haven't been in the playoffs since 2019, so strongggg chance they're on his NTC.

Ring any bells?

Let’s just pretend like your trade isn’t completely asinine, why would Terry sign for 5.5M? Meier and PLD just signed for 8.5M+ with 3 seasons of 60+ points. Kyrou and Thomas both signed for 8.125M after one 70 point season. Boeser makes 6.65M without a single 60 point season. Terry has back to back 60point seasons.

I think you forgot to consider ANA’s perspective completely in that trade.

And please don’t ever repeat that they need to hit the floor as a reason to take on trash contracts. So far off of reality in terms of trade value, not to mention it isn’t even true for ANA. They’re about to drop $13-16M on Z and Terry

Anaheim couldn't manage to stay under the cap floor unless the Ducks re-signed BOTH of Trevor Zegras and Troy Terry to less than $2 million AAV.

Your blithe "Anaheim retains 25% of Erik Karlsson" fails to appreciate that said figure represents $11.5 million in dead money. With that in mind, and the fact that by taking on the retention, Granlund and Petry (whom we would presumably flip to some Midwestern team to accommodate him) we facilitate your acquisition of Erik Karlsson so that Pickering and the second are barely adequate compensation, the RW you'd get from us is Sam Carrick or Brett Leason, not Troy Terry. (We wouldn't trade you Troy Terry's rights for your 2024 first and Owen Pickering.)

It's rumored that Pittsburgh is, in fact, interested in acquiring Erik Karlsson. If so, extending that offer is a great way to make sure that Mike Grier never talks to you again, as @HulkVader says.
