Absolutely nothing in for the Isles, except more cap for two upcoming UFAs

Devils are better off using prospects in the bottom 6 like Holtz and Foote. No real need for Jarnkrok.

Willy would be the star of this team. Scored 40 goals last year and has been a better player each year. Isles need scoring more than anything and you get a star player for 2 second pairing D and an RFA that hasn't panned out. Also, you sign your stars so maybe they work out a contract as part of the deal. I think Lou would jump on this.
Think about Lee/Barzal/Nylander as your top line. That's solid and it will improve Barzal as well as he's been lacking that star goal scorer to up his game.

This deal is only good for the Leafs because they don't have the cap space otherwise there is no way their giving away this player at that price. Fortunately for the Devils they have the cap space.
Where are you going to find a perennial 20 goal scorer for a 3rd and 5th round pick who is still signed for 3 more years at $2.1M. That's a steal and the Devils have the stars but need solid depth guys and at that price how can you say no.

Basing a trade on a extension.....mostly impractical. How do Isles take on the difference in 3.5m difference in cap between Romanov/Dobson....Nylander and Brodie.

Offload one of your other contracts. If the Isles go into this season with that lineup you're not a playoff team. Add a star player and this team looks so different. It also helps you with a ligit 2nd line with Nelson/Horvat/Palmieri.

Dobson is one of the best offensive defenseman in the league and he’s a cost controlled high end RD which is one of the most valuable assets in the NHL.

No shot the isles do this

Can't just expect teams to offload cap in a different trade when cap space is a premium especially with the Isles being up to the cap and having a ton of NTCs.

Their offer for Nylander is going to be the same or similar to what was reported for DeBrincat which was like Pageau+Wahlstrom+some picks. All they feel that they need is a top 6 F, not a remodeling of their dcore.

Palhal is a Leafs fan btw.

DeBrincat is not Nylander there is no comparison there.

Three 22-year-olds for an impending UFA that wants upward of 10m. Just what the Islanders should do...

Also, please look up the word perennial for me. Jarnkrok has scored 20 goals ONCE...

Sure, but that doesn't mean they will offer more for Nylander. If I'm Lou, I'm arguing that DeBrincat (career 0.828 PPG rate vs Nylander's 0.825) is at least slightly better or more valuable, even if the last 3-years are in favor of Nylander 0.97 to 0.90. Goals rate in the last 3-years are in favor of DeBrincat 0.45 to 0.425 and career-wise 0.415 to 0.339.

"Look, I'm doing you a favor here bud."
