Sabres are close to being a wagon. Hellebuyck in net is exactly what they need. Mittelstadt might be a non starter but I don’t think it’s that far off.

They are one of the few teams that can afford the extension Hellebuyck is looking for as well. You get him a year early for 50% retained and Dillon who is a great fit for their backend.

I like this build, kind of got the squad to a place where you could keep building if you want, and the assets to do it, possibly go shopping in a rebuild, maybe upgrade goalie of the future, or try to buy a upgraded dman or forward, and you also don’t have to. Even if it’s not middlestadt, there’s a few options that hit a similar mark for that trade.

THE problem is that Hellebuyck will want a 7year extension,
and i just don’t think the Sabres will even consider that
They’d probably wanna do something like 3 years

It’s (imo) so far off, that I’d be surprised if an extension is agreed upon- and thus, a tough trade to actually pull off

Winnipeg does none of the 3.

Frederic, Mittlestadt and Robertson have no value to the Jets.

More about the number, but basically have a Florida situation, levi cheap and then a bridge and helly 1 year he’s coming with and possibly a 5x extension, all about that number, probably like you said doesn’t quite fit, I think Buffalo shouldn’t stand Pat, but add come competition to strengthen that room, but helly may not be the answer. Gibson or hart, where Buffalo is, I would pay the premium to hopefully lock down the position.

I can agree about Robertson & Frederic but Mittlestadt is a top 6 guy who got almost 50 points last year and is still getting better, he’s be a great addition to WPG.

To me Mittlestadt looks like a buy high candidate. With his career up until last year, it screams career season and he'll likely get his big long term contact and sink back to his normal sub-standard level of play.

I think that's why Sabre fans are anxious to move him on, they don't want to be stuck with that long term contract.

Not a chance they would pay close to that. Mitts coming into his own a 1st rd for a goalie rental. No thanks. Adams already said he not trading for a goalie

Any team trading for Helle rn would have an extension in place. Rental - sure it's too much. 3 years minimum of a top 3 goalie in the league - you're gonna have to pay a premium.

Yeah and at the $ Helle wants in an extension good luck any team willing to pay that. I know Buffalo isn’t. And Helle wants longer then 3 years and Buf has Levi so that won’t work

Lol, a team will pay Helle 8.5-9.5... Maybe it's not Buffalo, but if you think a top 3 goalie is making less than 8 mil, you're simply wrong.

Teams have to get rid of guys to get under the cap. If he wants to play anywhere relevant he is not getting that $. If he is just about $ then there are teams that can afford him. But those teams aren’t trading for him but signing him next year as a UFA
