He seems like the natural choice to either move or let go.

Depends on the number for me. Avs are much more likely to win a cup over the next 3-4 years with Toews on the roster instead of one of Manson/Girard. I'm of the opinion that if they can't come to an agreement on a contract that works by the end of the summer, they should move him for pieces that help them win over the next several years. Not a huge fan of using him as a rental and letting him walk at the end of the season.

Toews is good but Bo is just as good, if not better plus he's considerably younger. I think people make way too much of his injuries; he's the perfect replacement for Toews and, in all likelihood, the Avs can't keep both of them.

I like Bo too and I'm not all that concerned with his injuries. For me its more of a "Who is more valuable in 3 years? Toews at 7-8M? Or Manson at 4.5M?" Over 8M and I'm not sold on how it fits for the Avs. Anything 7.5M or below feels like a no brainer to keep Toews.

IMO, the ideal Top 4 situation in 3-4 years is:
Byram-Makar
Toews-Girard

I loved the Toews-Girard pairing when Makar was out this past season, and thought it was a look into the future. Maybe as early as this year. If Toews is willing to extend for a number works for the team to bring Gabe off LTIR and ice a 21 man roster next year that only costs them Manson as a cap casualty, then I'm all in. Just not sure that Toews will take enough of a discount to make that work.
