The trap? We used the trap for about a year. In 1995 playoffs and in 1995-96 regular season. By 1997, it was gone. And through late 1990s through early 2000s, we were one of the highest scoring teams in league.

Hey Hall of Famers Stevens, Niedermayer and Brodeur had nothing to do with NJ winning 3 Cups. It was The Trap! LOL

Fluke? The Canucks were back to back president trophy winners. You’re acting like they had some sort of Cinderella run when instead they were one of the best teams in the league during that time 😂. But of course, all other teams are flukes

The Canucks were a fluke bc they didn't make it to the conference finals until that one year. Then, they went back to losing in RD 1 and missing the playoffs until the bubble year, where they lost in RD 2... Haven't made the playoffs since

Umm... Yes, we do...our depth is our strength. What happens in the playoffs is our top-six scoring dries up... We're Carolina not Toronto or Edmonton. Dude... Jesper Fast, and Jordan Martinook were the kind of players that allowed us to go to the ECF.

Carolina's scoring depth is pitiful. Look at last season's 5v5 scoring rates - here are the top-3 forwards:

Svechnikov: 2.23
Aho: 2.22
Necas: 1.85

Edmonton had EIGHT players that scored more than 1.85 P/60 at 5v5. Eight! They lost 1 of those 8 this summer (Kostin) but added Connor Brown. THAT'S offensive depth.

Apparently Carolina won the Cup this season. According to Seanie Rushdie. He changed his name from Salmon to Salbas, Jerry!

Edmonton can't defend worth a damn... the Hurricanes don't need a bunch of high-scoring guys... they just need a couple because of the system that they play that strangles the other side

Exactly. It's not the team. It's the annoying, obnoxious, fairweather, bipolar, so called "fans."

Vegas just won the Cup and Leafs fans are trashing them on CFACGM claiming the Leafs are better. Can't say I'm surprised. 🥱

Fake it til ya make it? The "Weak West." The same weak conference who's produced the last 2 Cup champs.

Yeah, in this very thread they talk about the Pacific being the weakest division in hockey... they only division that had 4 100 point teams and the division that produced the Cup winner. And Vegas openly admitted that their toughest series was against Edmonton... another Pacific division team.

Delusional.

God forbid a team have a full rebuild after being one of the most dominant teams in the league with a historic roster and elite level success

What’s the deal? 😂 now you defend the wings too? Hope that Subaru is electric because you’re driving all over North America defending fans from us 😅. Maybe misery loves company

So you're admitting their offensive depth is a problem. Great. That's the first step to recovery.

I seen 4 Cup parades. But I'm jealous of the Leafs. 🤣

Maybe cap friendly hands out awards for ‘worst takes’; since pretty much everything you predicted was completely wrong - you’d win a landslide. Hang it beside your Stevey y poster

Who is acting proud? Let’s go over the chain of events here… canes fan posts playoff predictions , i and other leaf and non leaf fans call him out for the obscene homerism (they just got swept!). You ride in on your - I can only assume a - Subaru outback to save hurricanes fans from the big, mean leafs fan. Get over yourself - no one asked your opinion but if you take shots at the leafs I (we) should be able to defend ourselves, seems only fair

I think it was a few leafs fans that got really upset about the post and a couple other fan bases made tongue in cheek comments but were nowhere near as upset as you guys. I’m not really sure why these types of things irritate you and some of your louder leafs buddies on here. Of course the dude who posted this is gonna pick the canes to win, they’re a top 5-8 team and any of those teams have a pretty even shot at winning. Typically it comes down to which of those teams gets hot at the right time and stays healthy. Look at Florida last year, they made the run but were beat up by the time they got Vegas and ran out of gas.

Canes got swept and that sucked. Games were close but a sweep is a sweep. They made some strong adds so far and should be in a good position again this year. Just like Avs knights stars leafs devils oilers and a couple others. Idk why this turned into such a pissing match with various teams who’ve come up short in recent and/or longer history. This isn’t surprising though when you look at the folks behind each side.

Yeah, a tougher division is a lot more spread out, not having 4 teams beat up on the Ducks, Sharks and Canucks

Elias, Sykora, Arnott, Daneyko, Gomez, Holik, Rafalski, MacLean, Richer, Lemieux, Mogilny, Guerin, Rolston, Madden, Nieuwendyk, etc etc…

Had some deep teams back then.

The Hurricanes could use another scorer or two... but of the higher-end variety like Connor, Keller, or Konecny.
People like Jordan Staal may not put up a whole ton of points but they are good at their assigned roles.

It's more the "Leafs are going to blow a 3-1 lead in RD 1" comment that got the angry comments (deserved BTW)

I get it. No different than the constant canes sweep remarks that run rampant whenever fans get in their feels in these threads. Both have happened multiple times tho so both are fair game I guess.

@ MoreHitzSeider - any other insights on FA? Or trades? Your track record so far has not been great - 0 for like a lot - but you seem to know a lot about the league… bound to get something right, eventually

Meh. The Canucks are a mess, but they were still over .500. The Central is clearly the weaker division.

When I wrote that I knew I was gonna get those shots and they are absolutely fair game... I completely get why Toronto fans are super sensitive to 3-1.

TBF, I, when the Leafs got out, I was rooting for the Canes! Their fans seemed to be nice enough and kinda wanted the Leafs to take the same approach where their identity is 1, not 4. But, sometimes, you get heated bc of remarks that were out of character and it ends up with a peaceful conversation on another thread. The way she goes sometimes
