The jackets have a solid team as things stand now i think and will only improve with various prospects in their system. Reality is though that a chunk of these guys will get traded. CBJ will improve this year and next and with that they'll be looking to go for a cup and make deadline additions or summer acquisitions which in all likelihood means some of these guys go.

You would give up a third for defensive liability what’s the point? If anything you guys should receive a third

I’m pretty certain he was a lot better then he wasn’t playing 20 minutes a night

He could be a decent option as our RD3 for a couple years while we wait on the younger guys to develop

Sharks don't want another LHD and definitely not for that price.

I'd do Bemstrom and Boqvist for the NJ 2nd and a 5th. And if it gets upgraded to a First, then CBJ gets the Sharks 2025 2nd

You clearly have no clue about the player.

He blocks shots like a machine, plays defensive hard hitting hockey. This year will be a lot better now that we have an actual NHL Coach talent to lead the team..

He’s a cap dump and by far the worst defender on the jackets that’s why they wanna get rid of him

Lol thanks for proving my point again.

Anyways, this team is going to be a lot of fun to watch grow.

He’s not a cap dump but this is an overpay. I think he gets a third rounder

I'm lower on Peeke than just about anyone, but holy s*** he's not a cap dump. He's a cost-controlled, young RD who can play a lot of minutes (though he shouldn't) and block a lot of shots. The market alone would drive up his value; it seems like he's on every ACGM wish list.

I'd fire him off for a 4th or 5th, but he'd certainly fetch a 3rd and possibly a 2nd. Calling him a cap dump is some disingenuous, non-productive, alternate-reality bulls***.

Just to be facetious...I'm pretty sure if every team's prospects all came over and developed, they'd all have very bright futures.

CBJ have an excellent prospect pool at this point and we have every right to be excited. I'm just hoping Babs and Jarmo give them time to develop, and don't trade them too early.

He's far from a perfect player, and is slightly overpaid as a 3RD but that will get better as the cap goes up. He does play a rugged game, is always blocking shots and empties the gas tank on a nightly basis.

He's not a core guy and is fairly easily replaced, but is still a guy in a role that every team needs. He's also still only 25. He definitely has some value. I would agree with @GeneralLandro, @CaseyFlyman and others that he's probably worth a 3rd. A desperate team might give a 2nd for him at the deadline.

Tell me you've never watched a CBJ game, without telling me that you've never watched a CBJ game.

I actually don't think they want to get rid of him. He has been playing top-4 and even top-2 roles the past couple years, which is why his analytics look bad. That's not who he is.

CBJ needed a 1RD so they signed Severson, and now they have both Gudbranson and Peeke filling the same role as a defensive 3RD, plus Blankenburg who can play and Jiricek pushing for a spot and Ceulemans coming down the pike. Just having a surplus of NHL players is not what makes someone a cap dump.

Being $5mil under the cap, they can afford to alternate scratching Gudbranson and Peeke. It will keep guys fresh until they can get proper value in a trade. Having too many NHL defensemen is a good problem.
