Off Season into Deadline

Created by: TMLBRIAN
Team: 2023-24 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 21, 2023

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
These are the type of moves I would like to see Philly make. Konecny would be a great addition to the Islanders (especially 50% retained).

I would love to see a Hart + Levi tandem on Buffalo. This will depend on how their goaltending is going this year.

Laughton at 50% retained would be a very interesting add to Columbus. They are clearly going for it and he would help stabilize the middle of their roster for the next 3 years. Him and Boone Jenner would be very strong stabilizing forces in their top 9. Although I am sure Dumais may be a none starter. Kid just dropped over 140 pts in the Q this year. Which is nuts.

I would also look at moving Tippet, if a team goes crazy and offers a Jeannot/hagel type package for him. They keep him otherwise, but he may get a big package if he is performing again this year.

Thoughts?

I think a more likely package would be Wally, Johnston, a first and a third but that’s mainly for cap reasons. It’s a decent offer that I think the isles would seriously consider.

Absolutely not, I doubt you get Dumais for Laughton by themselves, Columbus sure as **** isn’t giving up a first as well.

I don’t like the value on any of these but ur a Toronto fan so I’ll explain why. Laughton I just don’t see why CBJ would want him. TK I don’t like anything Isles have to offer and we would want to ship him out of the division, if we are making him a $2.75M player we better be getting a ransom back and this isn’t it. Hart deal is just terrible, 1 we don’t need another goalie and 2 if the value is that little we might as well just keep him

@TMLBRIAN
An upgrade of Hart over Luukkonen is significantly less than a first.
Over the past 3 seasons Hart's SV% was 0.900 while Luukkonen's was 0.898, that is 2 more saves every 1000 shots, or about 4 more goals given up in a year (presuming 60 games)
Toss in tht Hart's salary is 3,141,500 higher than Luukkonen, even a small differnce melts away.

Buffalo will be using Levi, Luukkonen and Comrie for the year.

Laughton is interesting, but Columbus would only consider it if they don't think Fantilli will be the 1C in the next year or two, Sillinger and Voronkov need seasoning in the AHL, and Johnson is locked in at wing. We have a ton of middle-6 forwards, just not any developed top-line talent (aside from Gaudreau and maybe Laine).

Realistically, I don't think they make a move for Laughton because you'd have to think Jenner, Fantilli, Kuraly, Roslovic (until he's moved), and Voronkov or Sillinger can hold down the center spots in the NHL. Long term, it's probably Fantilli, Sillinger, Voronkov, and Jenner.

It's a little different from the Provorov situation because we don't have any NHL-ready prospects to fill that hole this year (Mateychuk and Svozil are probably 2 years out still from being legit 2LD options). At center, all of those long-term options are probably already NHL-ready, give or take some AHL time for adjusting. So, it doesn't make sense to trade a top prospect for another middle-6 center when he's probably just going to take time from the people that need it.

If they did trade for Laughton, I doubt you'd get a 1st and Dumais. Maybe Dumais 1-for-1, maybe the 1st if it's top-15 protected. There's definitely a market for Laughton, so the price will be high.
