What is that deal? Kotkaniemi isn't going anywhere because moving a dominant play driving center whose 23 for a rental on the wrong side of 30 is beyond stupid. Combine that with Schiefele being an awful fit for the Canes because he cannot play defense and he is reportedly a locker room issue, why would Carolina consider this? If we say Drury for a 2nd, Pesce is worth more than Stanley and a 1st

Not saying anything about his defensive abilities or the age difference, but I do believe that Scheifele is just that, a more dominant play driving center than Kotkaniemi. Last season was kind of an outlier when it comes to Scheifs point totals and assists. He did have the 42 goals though, 10 of which were game winning ones 🙂

Jesperi Kotkaniemi and had a 60 point pace after Christmas that he held even after the Andrei Svechnikov ACL injury... again, that's a more dominant play driver. Not to mention, KK mops the floor with Schiefele defensively, is cheaper, is signed longer term and oh, is what 8 years younger?

What? Dominant play driving doesn't mean dominant production because production is based on either the players shot (which Kotkaniemi's is fine, but not special) or their linemates (and both of Kotkaniemi's linemates were injured for prolonged parts of last season). Even with those injuries, he produced at a 60 point pace in the new year.

He’s good defensively, and meh offensively. That’s not elite. Nylander is an elite play driver - guess you can’t even see that 🤷🏻‍♂️
