I'd be very surprised if Roslovic, Provorov, Boqvist, and maybe Texier are still with the team at this point. Voronkov, Mateychuk, Ceulemans, and one of the several other young forward options seem more likely

Peeke wouldn’t make it into our top 6 and idk if he’s even an upgrade from Broberg oilers are contenders and will only make trades that make the team better we aren’t trading for AHL players

No point including Brind’amour, he’s only going to sign in Carolina. I don’t see peeke as a good enough dman to move out broberg, plus there isn’t cap space to bring him in.

Where are the multiple 1sts going to Edmonton? Peeke had the worst 5v5 goal differential in the league last year by far and you expect to get a top prospect and a 2nd for him??

It’s amazing how people truly believe peeke can get this awesome return and they think ceci is cap dump it just doesn’t make sense to me

In fairness, yes, people are generally overvaluing Peeke, but from the other side, his statistics are unfairly skewed because of the position he has been put in the last two seasons. Either due to injury or lack of other options, Peeke has played as the 2-4 dman for a bad team solely because he's in shape, can handle the minutes, and leaves it all on the ice blocking shots, laying hits and generally playing the game "the right way".

He is best suited as a defensive 3RD who can play top-4 in a pinch. The past two years he's been slotted as the 2RD and bumped up to 1RD because of injuries. He's still only 25 and is a really solid effort guy who has some desirable traits with his size, shot and above average skating for his size.

Ceci has an AAV of 500k more than Peeke with an even higher base salary. What makes a player a cap dump isn't just solely based on their ability, but also their contract in relation to their team's salary cap status. Ceci is considered a cap dump by some because if his team is moving him it's for cap space. Peeke is not in that situation. CBJ can hold onto him, play him, and be totally content. They do have a surplus of RHD, so they are open to trading him or Boqvist, but they won't be forced to dump either or take a trade for less value than they feel the player is worth.

Ceci played harder minutes than Peeke last year (and the year before) with much, much better results. He's a bonafide top-4 defender, he's simply WORTH more than Peeke. Edmonton isn't moving Ceci, there have never been any legitimate rumors that they have ever been shopping him.

Fair enough. I'm not saying EDM is trying to trade him. My point is the team's cap situation has more to do with whether or not a player is considered a cap-dump IMO, for example, when CBJ had to accept a 3rd and a 4th for Bjorkstrand last year in order to get under the cap.

I'm only trying to argue that Peeke would not be acquired at a cap dump price because CBJ doesn't have a need to move him. He's also probably not worth a 2nd. There is a middle ground.

Sure, but I didn't call him a cap dump. I called out the "2nd + top prospect" ask.

Right, I quoted two people in that initial reply addressing the cap dump comparison. It wasn't you that used that phrase.
