What is the point of EDM & PIT retaining the exact same amount on players who make the exact same amount?

Interesting trade but oilers decline imo. I think they’d rather move broberg to his off side or have Vinny be their 3rd pair rd and keep foegs in the bottom 6. It gets thin without foegs there and this trade doesn’t open cap space to bring in a replacement.

I would do that deal for Petry, but if I am not retaining or sending a 3rd back with Lyubushkin. Petry is actually owed more in Salary this year than his Cap hit so that retention really does nothing this year on Petry. So Petry and a 2nd for Lyubushkin is fair IMO

There's no upside for Edmonton here. Foegele has FAR more impact on the game than Rutta does, this move doesn't improve their defense while simultaneously making their offense weaker.

Lyubushkin will be a trade deadline decision. Will he be traded regardless the Sabres qualify for postseason play? Lyubushkin will be an unrestricted free agent in 2024.

Petry would like to be closer to his home in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Buffalo is not close.
