Description
Trying to swing Pesce into a solid scoring forward. Where am I off on this, is it the Buffalo trade? the Winnipeg trade? Both? If so, by how much, and what would it take to make it happen? Looking forward to seeing comments.

Conner isn’t going anywhere, and if he was you’d be way short on the Winnipeg trade

Can't see the Sabres risk a lottery pick for one year of Pesce. If anything the Sabres overpay a player like Dumba on a one year deal and keep the pick and players
Gee buy the trade you haven't given Jets that much more for three years of Connor, then you want for one year of Pesce.

That joke of an offer doesn't get Kyle Connor, Detroit would blow away that offer to bring Connor home.

I can't see Buffalo retaining money and paying a first for a rental.

Winnipeg is likely on Turbo’s no trade list. Olofsson wouldn’t play above the 4th line here.

I wouldn't bother chasing after Conner. That won't happen.

Based on feedback. I sweetened the deal for Connor. Just curious what it would take to at least make Winnipeg think.

I guess, it would be contingent upon them being able to resign Pesce. If they could do that, then I think it's a maybe.

Lol I know it probably won't, but I've gotten bored with all the Nylander trade ideas, and I wanted to rock the boat a bit, and see what else we could poke around at.

Think Pesce would have been a Sabre already if a deal could be worked out.

The only pieces Winnipeg wants in that deal are Morrow and the Buffalo 1st. TT doesn't waive and as a rental has little value to Winnipeg. So, nothing there makes Winnipeg consider moving Connor.

The Turbo comment is fair, and so is the comment about Olofsson; however, he is still good for around at least 20+ goals a season, and if we can get Buffalo to retain some, he'd be a fine depth piece for our team.

Changed the offer. Does Detroit still beat that?

Sabres comment is fair. It would probably require Pesce getting an extension at or before arrival. As for the Connor trade, I changed it based on feedback. Are your thoughts still the same?

You can't do contingency picks based on resigning so it would have to be a sign and trade, but they still aren't going to retain on Olofsson

No, Conner is their star player, so think about what it would take for someone to get Aho or even Svechnikov from you.

They don’t want to move him and don’t have to move him so it going to take an unbelievable overpay to get him just like your 2 players mentioned above

Seeing that Jokiharju is a bottom pairing RHD and Teravainen is a one year rental, Morrow is the only decent piece. You'd probably need to start with both Seth Jarvis and Scott Morrow just to pick up the phone. Outside of Morrow it's still not a good deal. And yes Detroit still would easily beat it.

If it meant getting a extended Pesce I think they would. Especially if it keeps them from possibly giving a Decent prospect instead.

You must know my thoughts on these trades based on extensions. I cannot think of one trade where a Cup CONTENDER (is this case the Cane, asks a key member of their team, who is one year away being a UFA, asks/tells him to negotiate a deal with another team.
So, the discussion with Waddell and Pesce goes like this. Gee, Mr Pesce, who want you ass outta town now, so we can trade you. So hurry up and sign an extension with the Sabres. Now if you don't come to an agreement you are welcome back to the Canes family as we go on another Cup run. " Yep that goes down well with Pesce and the dressing room.
That's why these trades aren't made....but please I would still looking for one historical trade where this happened.

But the other issue is why would the Sabres do it. They are one of few good (or so to be good) teams with cap. They can pick and choose their UFAs without a giving up a good assets. Maybe not this year but next summer.

Yup, Buffalo can afford to wait. Their core isn't ready to push for a Cup, so rentals make no sense for them just yet.

Edit to add: I think Buffalo and Pesce would be a good fit for each other, I could see the Sabres making a strong offer next summer if he's available.

The Sabres might be better "overpaying" for a quality UFA on the market on a one year contract. If the Sabres are in the playoff hunt, they keep those player(s). If they are sellers they can get a return on those players with retention.
Hey, I like Pesce, but he's gonna be 30 years of age when his contract starts. Seems on CapFriendly so many want give him 7 year contract. I just don't think that is wise. Not picking on Pesce but so many players are in the same position. To me it's not going to turn into long term value.

Too much for Buffalo unless Pesce agrees to a reasonable extension
