I don't really get why Joseph costs that much to dump. He's pretty solid and he's young just entering his prime. If MTL didn't have an overflow of middle 6 wingers I'd be glad to grab him

Well who knew Monahan would cost a 1st to dump last year. Joseph will bounce back for sure but the Sens need to get under the cap with pinto

And CGY 100% regrets it. I think Monahan will be the peak of cap dumps, it shouldn't go any higher. Give Joseph the preseason and people will be willing to take him for a 6th

I'd be cool with either NSH or VAN paying a 4th for him. IMO, no need to dump him. If NSH moves on from Trenin, he'd be a great replacement.

I mean Edmonton had to use Kostin rights to move Yamamoto and he had better numbers then Joseph without the 2 extra years. Also Yamamoto only required a 1/3 buyout, Joseph would be a 2/3 buyout if he doesn't work out.

Well, because 1) they're over the cap & 2) he's replacement level but due 3x2.95. All things considered, a 2nd would probably be around the minimum fair dumping price to a team like Arizona.

Honestly shocked by this cap market ngl. It's sad to see decent players seen as garbage

Doubt it. Few teams have $3M to spend for a bottom-6er, and even fewer teams have incentive to help Ottawa in their cap troubles without getting something out of it for themselves.

OTT has shot themselves in the foot in a way, and are forced to pay for it in some shape or form.

Not just cap, but real salary is even higher. On a three-year deal. I don't think anyone would be interested in the 9.3 million gamble with three years.
Very likeable player. Hope he bounces back. The contract still is what it is.

I agree, but Joseph hardly qualifies as decent.
