Delusional. Lindholm doesn't want to be in Calgary, He's a good player but his best years are statistically behind him and no longer has Tkachuk and Gaudreau to carry him. He will be 29 the vast majority of this season and essentially 30 when his next deal starts. No interest from Calgary is straight up delusional.
Lol I'm delusional?
On what base does Lindholm not want to stay in Calgary? He hasn't requested a trafe
How exactly did Gaudreau carry him? Gaudreau was a defensive liability his entire career. Played 1 season with Lindholm as his center and put up the best defensive stats of his career, including the most even strength points in a season since Jagr in 1995. Lindholm was like Bergeron on that line, did all the defensive dirty work allowing the other 2 to run wild.
As for Marner, this trade puts Calgary 6 million over the cap with 21 players and no 1st line caliber center. Calgary would then have 2 wingers making over 10M both who always tend to pass the puck first and shoot second, neither pf which are natural goal scorers.
So tell me, how exactly does that make Calgary a vetter team? Not only do they have to make more significant roster changes just to be compliant, they still can't score, their center depth once again sucks, and Marner will probably bolt in 2 years to avoid wasting his career on a mediocre team. Calgary would be similar to Minnesota, stuck in perpetual mediocrity and now without their 2024 1st.
Marner does not solve the issues in Calgary, he amplifies them.
