Unless Lindholm is on an absolute insane tear, then you wouldn't get a better offer. You won't get 4 good picks, a solid young player and two decent prospects. Not even if he was traded separately from Zadorvov.

To say the Flames decline easy just indicates you want Lindholm to re-sign. And I would understand that position.

I guess that's a reasonable offer considering some recent comparable deals. Although I suspect we'd get better value for Zadorov at the deadline than we would in this offer. And yeah I would rather re-sign Lindholm than trade him, he's worth much more to us than the offers on here and what the current real trade market is at.

I'd prefer a young center coming back over a defensemen because the Flames dont have any coming up. But the values probably there, I'd like Bean just because he's a Calgary boy, so maybe replace Malatesta with him instead of giving him away to Phoenix.

Quality>quantity this offer is all just fluff.

I would have put Bean but was trying not to saturate the offer with boom/bust guys (though Boqvist just needs health).

Zary not going to get center looks? Maybe some like Del Bel Belluz could be included but a pick would have to come out if so.

Broseph, 4 good picks isn't fluff. Neither is Boqvist. If you want to nit pick the prospects, I could understand that.

Zary will, probably this season too, but I don't see him as much more then a good 3rd line center. Del Bel Belluz would be a good add.

Lol Boqvist and a 1st is literally it. 2 C level prospects, a pair of 3rds and a 2nd is not value

What if I told you that only 7 of the likely 23 man roster in Calgary were first round picks? So, those picks are valuable.

Don't let your opinions get in the way of facts.

I get it you don't like it but you're out to lunch on this one.

Lmao not exactly sure who makes your "likely 23 man roster" but if it includes Wolf then that would be a span of 12 years of drafting. 17 players making the NHL from outside the 1st round in 12 years of drafting is 17 / 2187 draft picks. No **** players can make it to the NHL from later rounds that doesn't make those picks highly valuable.

Tell me right now would you have even traded Horvat for that return?

Yes, 100%. Wouldn't even have to include Boqvist.

The typical best trade value for a player on an expiring deal is a 1st, another pick and prospect. This deal eclipses that easily.

If you go another level where the Meier deal saw more pieces move, it was still a 1st (albeit conditional), a 2nd and a 7th. This deal already supplants that regarding picks. There was a young roster player in Zetterlund if you want to compare to Boqvist. Though Boqvist has higher potential along with two prospects who weren't NJs best (like this deal). Not to mention pieces back to NJ on top of Meier (albeit a late pick and C prospects).

And the Sharks retained 50% on Meier.

A 1st, a third and future 2nd and future 3rd + two X prospects is a bit better than the conditional first, roster player and prospect the Canucks got for Bo.

I think it's very safe to assume Columbus would never trade an unprotected 1st. So arguing that there's no condition is silly to me. You are welcome to your own opinion here but I firmly believe that this return is at best on par with Horvat and worse than Meier

Reality is that this offer is probably better then anything they currently have on the table. Calgary feels like they need to win this trade... so they end up keeping him with the hope of signing him...
My guess is at this point it's very likely he'll get traded at the trade deadline as a rental for a late round first and a meh-prospect. Wouldn't be shocked if Jarmo signs him as a free agent next year.

You realize Calgary isn't shopping Lindholm. That's reality.

It's also extremely unlikely that he ever hits the market

I'm a #CBJ fan I've seen it all before... I know it's a crappy situation.. with a lot of veterans, with huge deals... They have to put their foot down, force Lindholm to make a decision or they'll make it for him. The longer this drags out the worse it's going to get. Sign him or start the rebuild.... but they need to get on it before it gets ugly.

I was referencing the Johnny Hockey scenario, just trying to point out that you guys literally just went through this... and yes he did hit free agency.

Unfortunately for the Flames, with the #CBJ drafting Fantilli, one of the best potential suitors in terms of Prospects, picks, etc... is more then likely no longer interested and they probably don't have a lot of options when it comes to trading Lindholm. You had the year of waiting on Johnny and now Lindholm, this Front office needs to make some decisions.
