Better? yes
87 pts? maybe
Playoffs? no way

This defense can move the puck but can't defend decently.

No team makes the playoffs with 87 points....thanks to so many three point games.
Hard to believe even this version of the Coyotes are top 8 in the West.

Their forward group is pretty solid imo but their defense is what's going to hold them back.

There's nothing on the team that stands out as being strong. Centers are well below average. Wingers and defense average at best. Goaltending a question mark. Isn't 87 points a low threshold for the postseason?

Rookie of the year Cooley, and an underrated home ice advantage, playoff bound as second wildcard at 93 points.

For one, very bizarre double negative. What am I'm exaggerating?

Over the past dozen years, no team has qualified for the playoffs in any full season with fewer than 95 points.

87 may seem like a shocker but my gut says that the Avs and Stars dominate the Central with the Wild taking a step back, Blues not returning to their good form, Winnipeg and Nashville really struggling (relative to 2022-23), and Chicago still being plain awful. There’s a window for the third team to sneak in with a low point total while Colorado and Dallas gobble up the points and both crack 110. May not be Arizona but with good goaltending, better center depth than it may seem at first glance, and a serviceable D corps, I like their chances. I’m not a Coyotes fan, but, as an Islanders fan, Arizona’s arena woes have endeared them to me this summer!
Thank you all for engaging here in the dog days of August!

The wild will 1000% reach the playoffs, people have been predicting them to fall off since they were knocked out by St Louis I’m 2022, and it hasn’t happened and I don’t think it will happen anytime soon

And St Louis is light years ahead of Arizona in every category except for goaltending, Vejmelka is the most overrated goaltender in the NHL and there’s no competition for that spot

And yeah I can say the same about Nashville and Winnipeg
