Description
Murray Edwards is the bane of my existence
Trades
1.
DET
Could he be acquired as some sort of deal where the Flames are sellers and Detroit are buyers? Maybe someone like a Mangiapane? I would say part of a Hanifin deal but it has come to my attention that Detroit don't need him. Detroit seems set on making playoffs and the rebuild being over so they could move him as part of a deal to get a better player but 15 goals on an ELC is pretty good so it might be smarter to just keep him.
    2.
    WSH
Kuznetsov wants out of Washington, I believe he has requested a trade. He had a down year so the Flames could probably get him for cheaper than normal. If Lindholm gets moved and the Flames (Murray Edwards) decide they still want to make playoffs and contend, I think Kuzy is one of the better options. Pros: Reg 60-70 point guy, Not a rental but also not locked into a 5+ year contract that will most certainly age poorly. Cons: Over 30, I think remember seeing something about him being a bad locker room guy but I can't seem to find that (If anyone has more info on that it would be much appreciated) Could a trade involving Hanifin make sense?
      3.
      SJS
If the Flames trade Lindholm and are looking for a more long-term center option, Hertl might be a good choice. Pros: 60+ point player, under 30. Cons: Cap hit is really high and the back half of the contract will most certainly age horribly. Package would most definitely be futures based.
        4.
        CBJ
Columbus isn't letting this guy go. They would be stupid to. I just really like him and would be curious to see if there was a way to get him.
          5.
          MTL
Mony come home, the kids miss you.
            6.
            OTT
Alberta boy. Ottawa is out of the rebuild. Do the Flames have something to sell that Ottawa would be willing to use Greig to buy?

I don't think there's a path to acquiring Marchenko. Not only is his on ice play incredibly promising going forward, but he is absolutely beloved by his teammates and has media star potential written all over him.

Yeah, I figured as much. Had to ask though.

Detroit is not trading Berggren unless it's a massive overpayment. Jonatan is part of our future.

He isn’t available this year. I would trade Berggren for Honzek or the 2024 CGY 1st round pick (10-16). Detroit are in no rush to move Berggren and after seeing the Toffoli trade, Conroy has a time limit to get the team back in the playoffs.

Hertl to an in division rival would hurt way to much, and it won’t end as badly as people think his game is not speed based his style plus his fitness level should age at least not terribly should still be a 40-50 point guy towards the end.
Think it’s a no, but never 100% sure.

Depends, are we getting the Mangia from 2 years ago or the one from last year?

Because if it's the one from last year I'd rather just keep Berggren

I suspect if we're sending him away it would be as part of a package for someone of Lindholm's caliber

The Monahan trade value completely hinges on his health and performance this year. Hoping for a fairly healthy and respectfully productive season so we can 50% him at the TDL for maximum return.

CGY could be sending us another 1st for him...

Doubt we trade Berggren after 1 year.

Washington has Sandin, Fehervary, and Alexeyev on left side defense, all aged 24, and also just acquired Edmundson. So Hanifin doesn't really make sense for the Caps. Off the Flames roster, I think the most likely player to draw interest from the Caps would be Lindholm.
As far as the "bad locker room guy" rumors, he had a few off ice issues that have been well known (coke incident, covid protocols, etc.), but the recent report over the last couple seasons is he has been great at the rink and around the team, especially with the Caps young players.

The lost of players we would likely trade Berggren for from Calgary is basically Andersson, maybe Weegar or else other young promising guys like Coronato or Honzek. Lindholm is a maybe as well. I don't think there is a big rush to make playoffs as you say for Detroit.

Ottawa wanted him and Yzerman was unwilling to include him in the DeBrincat trade.
